Kachemak Emergency Services Kachemak Emergency Services (KESA) is a Fire Department located in Homer, Alaska. Our members are trained in Firefighting, Emergency Medicine, and Rescue.

Kachemak Emergency Service Area (KESA) provides volunteer-supported emergency fire, rescue and medical response to residents of an area covering over 214 square miles that surrounds the City of Homer. The KESA boundaries span from Anchor Point to the north to East of Caribou Lake, running along the borders of Homer and Kachemak City Limits. The Service Area was established in October of 2000 and c

ontracted with the Homer Volunteer Fire Department (HVFD) to provide service until 2009. In 2008 KESA developed a plan to begin gradually operating independently from Homer with a goal of complete independence by July of 2010. In April of 2009 the Kenai Peninsula Borough decided that a complete transition was preferred for its financial and operations benefits to its constituents. In July of 2009 KESA ended its operational contract with the City of Homer and began full independent operations.
