Roosevelt County has moved to a new online platform for burn permits. This will be a change from the old system of faxing in a request.
The new system will provide a live map of Roosevelt County for current controlled burns, online tools for residents to check burn permit status and conditions in the area. The site will show if burn permits are active or restricted based on current weather and fire risk factors.
For new users or current users to active a burn permit please visit

This site can also be found on rooseveltcountymt.gov/sheriff-coroner/
Select Roosevelt County and follow the instructions to purchase a burn permit. The cost of the yearly permit is $5.00. These permits will need to be renewed every January. Burn permits can be purchased online or at the Roosevelt County Courthouse.
Before activating a burn permit, please make sure to read through the site for more information.
For tribal burn permits please reach out to Fort Peck Tribes/BIA.

Just a friendly reminder that even though it’s wet and a great time to do a controlled burn, please fill out and properly submit a burn permit to Roosevelt County dispatch so that they can let the appropriate people know. Thank you.

Today was a great day of grain bin rescue training in Froid. Froid Volunteer Fire Department was awarded a grain tube from a recent grant that we submitted to Nutrien Ag Solutions and thankfully we were the ones to benefit from it this year. It was a great training that National Education Center For Agricultural Safety (NECAS) put on for us. With our rural area in the ag world, it is great to finally have the proper tools to rescue someone from grain entrapment if the need arises. Froid firefighters along with fire fighters from Culbertson and Bainville trained this afternoon, with the beginning portion being in the classroom and then transferring out to the NECAS training trailer for the hands on portion.

Please help me give Nutrien Ag Solutions a huge thank you for always helping our community and for donating the grain tube to our department along with paying for the training guy to come up and train us on proper use.

Also please help me thank NECAS for traveling all the way from Iowa, to our little department and training us to be efficient and effective with our new tool.
