VIPS is looking for some volunteers to join us. If you are interested please contact Community Relations Officer Robbie Seal at the Front Royal Police Department. You do not have to dedicate every weekend or even a weekend a month, we are always happy to have volunteers for many different time periods, we can use your help.

SEPTEMBER 28TH - come down to the Brew & Blues Festival at the gazebo and visit us, when you get back from the Police Foundation's motorcycle ride that starts at 7:30 the same day. Voluntary breathalyzers will be available - yes it is voluntary - this is to raise awareness, how many beers can you drink and still drive? Do you know when you have had enough? Let us help you find out what you can "legally" handle before getting in the car behind the wheel or with someone else. Safety first people! It's free, it's fun, you will not be charged or anything like that. We just want you to know when to say no :) Plus you get to see new VIPS faces, plus some of us that have been around for years. We love to talk to the public and we are there just to raise awareness. Stop by and say hi! Don't forget to visit the Front Royal Police Foundation's page and learn about that motorcycle ride.

We have a few updates:
1. Congratulations to Norman Shiflett on his appointment to the position of Chief of Police of Front Royal. All the VIPS are looking forward to working with him and supporting him. Please join us in congratulating Chief Shiflett.
2. VIPS has had a new Coordinator appointed! Congratulations to Janice Hart - Crime Prevention Specialist. Janice started our VIPS program many years ago and will be heading our group once again.
3. Front Royal Police Department will have their open house along with the other Town Departments on Saturday, September 15th at Gertrude Miller Park (down by Bing Crosby) from 10-2. The Helicopter will be landing around 10:30 so please come join us, welcome the new Chief, see the exhibits and join in the fun and games.
4. VIPS will be at Trade Fest with Front Royal-Warren County Chamber of Commerce on September 19th. If you are interested in volunteering please stop by and see Patti or Bob. Or just stop by our booth and visit. We will also be there representing the Front Royal Police Foundation.
and last but NOT least - thank you to our wonderful volunteers that have been doing the school crossing guard duties.

Front Royal Police Foundation - Motorcycle Ride to Shanksville Pennsylvania. Flight 93 National Memorial "A Common Field One Day...A Field of Honor Forever" October 15, 2001, rain date October 16th. Registration begins at 7:30 am with line-up at Bing Crosby Stadium. Registration Fee: $20.00. This will be a Police escorted ride with a departure time of approximately 9:00 am. Approximate return time of 5:30 pm.

Tomorrow - Saturday - September 17th is Front Royal Police Department's Open House at Gertrude Miller Park (Bing Crosby Stadium). Come out see the K-9 demonstrations, crash test dummies, McGruff, train rides and hopefully the Helicopter. Lots of fun, hot dogs and pizza. 10-2. Free Children's fingerprinting too.

VIPS are helping the Police Foundation sell raffle tickets for 1/2 side of Texas Long Horn beef, 5.00 each or 5 for 20.00. Proceeds go to get heated kennels for K-9s. Drawing is June 30th. Hurry and get some tickets, we need to sell lots more.

Saturday - September 17th will be the Police Department Open House down by Bing Crosby Stadium, free food, tons of stuff for the kids, VIPS display, public safety information, children's fingerprinting AND the helicopter will be coming in for a landing. PLUS a motorcycle ride - come early see all the motorcycles before they leave.

Wed - August 3rd - National Night Out at the Gazebo Commons. VIPS will be there with lots of vendors - including HEAT for VIN Etching and the Shredding truck. Lots of public safety information, home security information, great for the kids. Come on out - get free stuff, see demonstrations. Great event.
