Today, we ended Older Americans Month with a field trip, exploring hidden gems in Warren County that sparked wonder & curiosity in all of us. After a few rainy days, the sunshine today was like a pathway to new discoveries! We marveled at the breathtaking Christ the King Chapel at Christendom College, which was recently built in 2023. Taking in the beauty of the countryside, we took backroads to Morgan's Ford Bridge, where a few even took time to skip rocks that rekindled cherished childhood memories. Our journey continued in Rockland, where the Community Prayer Garden provided a time of reflection. We reminisced about the historic one-room school & old church, noting the transformations that have shaped the area over time. At Rockland Park, we explored and some even took advantage of the exercise equipment. As we wrapped up our adventure with a nice picnic lunch at the shelter by the old Senior Center, we felt grateful for the opportunity to soak in the picturesque landscapes and rural charm of Warren County, creating unforgettable experiences together.

The seniors have greatly enjoyed the array of activities in May, including the planting of vegetable and flowers, Chair Yoga, crafting sessions, and other engaging pursuits, despite the month passing swiftly. In celebration of Memorial Day, red, white, and blue attire was chosen for the day. 🇺🇸

Hot weather and summer are coming. Are you a senior aged 60 and older who has an income of 150% of the federal poverty level or below? Seniors First may be able to provide some relief for you in the form of a 5000 BTU window air conditioner or a fan. If you'd like to apply for one, please call our main office at (540) 635-7141 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Monday - Friday. This program is provided through a grant from Dominion Energy and is available now through October 31st, or until supplies run out.
