The Front Royal Police Department wants to extend a HUGE thank you for the kindness and generosity of Ashley Woodall and the community members who helped create and donate sensory bags for officers to have on hand during calls for service.

These thoughtfully assembled bags provide valuable resources that can help children on the autism spectrum and individuals with sensory processing needs feel more comfortable during interactions with law enforcement. By helping reduce anxiety, support communication, and provide calming tools, these bags can make a meaningful difference in challenging or stressful situations.

We are grateful to live and work in a community that continually shows up to support others. Ashley, thank you for your vision, dedication, and hard work in making this project a reality! Your generosity will positively impact countless interactions and help us better serve all members of our community.

Congratulations to Officer John Fisher! Yesterday, May 27, Officer John Fisher officially graduated from the Skyline Regional Criminal Justice Academy.

Officer Fisher successfully conquered a rigorous 20-week program alongside 15 of his law enforcement peers. Not only did he earn his badge, but he also stood out from the crowd by earning the Top Overall Achiever Award and placing second in academic scoring. We are incredibly proud of his hard work, dedication, and commitment to excellence, qualities we know he will continue to demonstrate throughout his career.

Officer Fisher will now begin his Field Training Officer (FTO) program within the department, applying everything he learned to serve and protect our community.

Please help us congratulate Officer Fisher on a job well done!

Yesterday, members of our staff had the honor of attending the 9th Annual Law Enforcement Memorial Service hosted by the Skyline Regional Criminal Justice Academy. The service recognized and honored members of local law enforcement who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

During the ceremony, we paid tribute to two of our very own: Sergeant Dennis M. Smedley, End of Watch: September 20, 1983, and Lieutenant William P. Farrell, End of Watch: July 24, 1991. Their dedication, service, and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

It was a meaningful and solemn reminder of the courage, dedication, and selflessness displayed by those who serve our communities each day. We remain forever grateful to the fallen officers and will continue to honor their memory and sacrifice.
