Fruita's COOP Tower is getting a new look, and we want it to be made with you.

The updated banner design welcomes people to town from both directions. The east-facing side greets visitors as they arrive, with a cyclist riding against a blend of the Colorado National Monument, McInnis Canyons, and the Colorado River. The west-facing side puts Greta, our town dinosaur, front and center in a mosaic of flowers.

That botanical background is where you come in. We're inviting everyone, your family, your friends, your neighbors, to help fill it with flowers made by hand.

Submissions will be converted into digital files and incorporated into the final design of the botanical background. A little piece of the Tower made by you, your family, and by your neighbors. A landmark that represents our community because the community made it.

We're also hosting two live painting events where you can come paint your flowers alongside COOP Tower artist Andrea Downs. Join us at the Farmers Market on June 13th, or at Fruita's Fourth Friday on June 26th.

Grab some paper. Pick your flower. Help us build something that belongs to all of Fruita.

Heads Up, Fruita! 🚧

The City is breaking ground on some overdue improvements along S. Maple Street, the south Reed Park parking lot, and S. Elm Street near Highway 6 & 50 starting this June. Over about 4 to 5 months, work will include installing a new sewer line, fixing drainage issues, laying fresh pavement, and rebuilding portions of the sidewalks on Maple Street. Completion is expected by October or November 2026.

Here's what to expect while construction is underway:

~ Street closures will happen one block at a time
~ Sidewalk detours may be in place at various points
~ Dump-truck deliveries and active construction may cause occasional delays
~ Work hours are 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The south Reed Park parking lot will remain closed throughout the entire project for equipment staging. The north lot will close briefly near the end for repaving. Please use caution in and around the site. This will be an active work zone with hazards.
