Campus is now cleared for move in for the spring semester. Please be aware of the following:

โ€” Move In
Residence hall move in runs January 28 to February 1 from 9 am to 6 pm and after 8 pm daily. New students must arrive by 11 am Saturday to participate in additional orientation activities. Move in is not an excuse to miss class.

โ€” Weather
Please plan travel carefully. Another winter storm may impact campus January 31 to February 1, and some student services may have modified hours due to weather.

โ€” Parking
Main campus parking is allowed only while unloading. After unloading, vehicles must be moved to Avery Street Lot, Wayne Street Garage, or off campus parking to allow for potential snow removal. Garage elevators are unavailable, and student parking on main campus resumes February 2 pending weather.

โ€” Classes
Classes will remain virtual through Friday, with in person classes resuming Monday pending weather. Please plan travel based on your class schedule and safety.

Please check your SU email for additional information and updates.

SALISBURY, MD โ€“ The Wicomico County Sheriffโ€™s Office is issuing an urgent warning to all residents, particularly our vulnerable and elderly community members, about a surge in telephone scams targeting citizens with false claims of loved ones in jail, an immediate warrant being issued for your arrest, one must pay a sum of money in โ€œgift cardsโ€ or someone in immediate need of cash or risk immediate arrest.

In many cases, these scammers are impersonating law enforcement officials, attorneys, federal marshals or family members in distress, demanding immediate payment in the form of gift cards, wire transfers, or large cash withdrawals to โ€œbond outโ€ a loved one or resolve a fabricated emergency or a computer alert. These criminals use fear, urgency, and deception to pressure victims into acting quickly without verification.

The Wicomico County Sheriffโ€™s Office will NEVER call you over the phone to demand money, gift cards, or cash to release a loved one from custody. We will never instruct you to withdraw large sums of money from your bank. We will never request personal or financial information over the phone.

Official notifications from the Sheriffโ€™s Office will ALWAYS be delivered in writing (via certified mail or official document), or in person by a uniformed deputy with proper identification.

The Salisbury University Police Department offers our heartfelt condolences to the friends and family members of S/Cpl. Ryan Mitchell. S/Cpl. Mitchell worked alongside many officers of the SUPD, where he was viewed as a brother to many of those officers. Thank you for your dedication and commitment to serving and protecting the citizens of Salisbury. You will be missed.

It is with great sadness that the Salisbury Police Department announces the passing of Senior Corporal Ryan Mitchell, who unexpectedly passed away in his home earlier today.

S/Cpl. Mitchell began his career with the City of Salisbury in 1995. During his years of dedication, S/Cpl. Mitchell served in our Operations Division on Patrol, was a long-time member of our Tactical Unit, and a detective in the Criminal Investigation Division as well as the Child Advocacy Center. Most recently, he was assigned as a patrol supervisor assisting in the supervision and development of officers.

S/Cpl. Mitchell was a dedicated public servant and dear friend to those of us here at SPD. He served our community with integrity, compassion, and commitment. S/Cpl. Mitchell will be deeply missed by fellow officers, friends, and the many others whose lives he touched throughout his career. Ryan's sense of humor, smile, wisdom and culinary prowess are irreplaceable and were ever present with those around him.

Our deepest thoughts and condolences are with S/Cpl. Mitchell's family, loved ones, and all who mourn this great loss. Please keep them in your thoughts during this difficult time.
