Enterprise Ladies Club

Enterprise Ladies Club An organization which offers area women fellowship and an opportunity to pursue common goals of community involvement through benevolent endeavors.

The purpose of the club is not just social (even though we do have a lot of fun and laughs) but also to raise money to contribute to the community in any benevolent endeavor we find plausible. "---
The club meets once a month on the second Thursday, at 1:00 p.m. except when announced otherwise. The dues are $3.00 per year. You must be willing to contribute time, energy, food, and talent to support

the functions of the club. If for any reason you are unable to provide food, baked goods, or craft items for the fair booth, Ham Dinner, and Book Review, $7.50 will be collected from you for each activity that you were unable to contribute to. All members are always encouraged to attend cleaning, craft, and candy making work days as well as regular club meetings. We have numerous committees on which to serve and get to know people better and have fun doing the jobs together: Nutrition, Fair Booth & Bazaar, Home Management, Scholarship, Courtesy, Projects, Field Trips, Scrapbook, Program, Booklet, Posters & Reader Board, Telephone, and Serving. You may read in detail about the functions of these committees in the club By-Laws. Having a secret pal is a lot of fun. You will be expected to send cards occasionally and buy two gifts, one for the birthday party in June and one for the Christmas party in December. Overall a year's obligation, financially, may run as much as $50 to $75.

We have started the GoGetters.
Go-Getters is a group of volunteers sponsored by the Enterprise Ladies’ Club who want to help our local (Columbia 206) high school students explore careers, apply to trade schools, colleges or universities and get scholarships and grants to pay for their education. We want to encourage not only the students but also the parents and relatives of the students as to the many possibilities that are out there for ways to find each student’s dream career.
Many of our students are the first in their families to pursue a higher education. All high school students need personalized guidance to navigate the bewildering college and scholarship applications process. Columbia 206, like all public high schools, even the very large ones, has only one counselor. We want to help fill this resource gap by mentoring any student or his/her parent/guardian that would like assistance.
We want to coordinate with Columbia’s principal, teachers, counselor and Upward Bound sponsor to offer help with career choices, application processing, and essay writing. We also want to organize social events outside of school that would bring students and parents together with each other and with community volunteers.

We had a wonderful time at our December meeting. Thank you, serving committee for the lovely lunch. Our Christmas party was a huge success. The gift exchange with our secret pals was a lot of fun. I think only one person actually guessed correctly who their secret pal was. The minutes of the meeting are as follows.
December 8, 2016
The regular meeting of the Enterprise Ladies’ Club was called to order by our president, Sheryl Mixey. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited and roll call was answered by 30 members, three guests and two children.
The minutes from the previous meeting were read and approved.
The treasurer’s report was given as follows: Beginning balance, $4792.80; Income, $14.50; Expenses $2.00 (bank charge); Ending balance, $4805.30. Cash on hand, $41.40. Bills presented for book review expenses, $47.97, Courtesy committee for Christmas and Past President’s gift, $62.42; and $66.80 for other courtesy committee expenses. Motion to approve the report and to pay the bills was seconded and carried.
Chris Buchanan presented our club with $400 in memory of her mother, Mary Jo Hudspeth, which is to be included in the scholarship fund.
Due to today being Christmas Party day we shortened the meeting to the most pressing matters. Questions have been expressed about certain parts of the by-laws which we will address in the new year.
Scholarship Chairman Sheryl gave a review of the plans and proceedings of the committee. Anne Wines was present and said that as a parent and as a school board member she would be helpful to us in any way possible.
Judy told about the Food Bank needing cash to help buy hams for the food bank clients this Christmas. A free-will offering was taken for this purpose and a total of $195 was received.
Nutrition chairman Gay announced that the January committee would be Deanna, Danise and Charlotte.
The meeting was adjourned for our gift exchange.
Linda Larson, Secretary

I made another calendar with photos of some of my paintings. I tried to make it with some that I did not have on previous calendars. These calendars will be for sale ($20) at the Enterprise Ladies Club's book review on Wednesday, Oct 19. at the Enterprise Grange Hall in Fruitland, WA. Ladies, invite your lady friends. There will a delicious salad luncheon, a Chinese auction, a bazaar table loaded with goodies, and a "funny" skit as well as the book review. All the other ladies' and homemakers' clubs in the area are invited. If you want a calendar, but are not going to attend the luncheon, send me a message. I usually have to reorder and would like to do it all in one batch.

WE had a great time at our BINGO Fund Raiser last night. Special thanks to Sandi and Ron Dauzenroth for getting all the prizes ready and calling the numbers and giving out the cards. They practically did the whole thing. Special thanks to Charlotte Etue for organizing the whole affair. Special thanks to Gay Smith, Donna Johnson, Dee Thompson and Carolyn Wolfrum for working in the kitchen preparing all that good food. And,of course, thanks to Nadine Johnston for collecting the money. Our Bazaar Table was maned by Maxine Nussbaumer and Darlene Buckner. And our famous 50/50 person was Judy Heinz. And thanks to everyone who donated gifts to be given as prizes and those who made the quilts.
