Fire department training isn't always the fun stuff like advancing hose lines, flowing water, throwing ladders, and practicing firefighting tactics.
Sometimes it is more mundane - but equally as important.
Today, 15 members of your Frye Island Fire Department met at the fire station for our weekly training session.
The topic...?
The tasks associated with capturing and reporting important response information for our administrative reporting systems at the "in-house" and federal level. Such training ensures we have the required information and data concerning emergency calls and responses and know how to report it to comply with documentation and regulatory requirements.
Members also ensured they had installed and were familiar with the operation of our new wireless incident alerting software, First Due. By ensuring functionality of the First Due system, members prepared to receive emergency alerts and dispatch calls via their cell phones and wireless devices so they can respond to emergencies when the new system goes into operation on July 1st.
Finally, we got a head start on preparations for 4th of July festivities by beginning to wash our fire engines so they can look their best during the annual island parade.
