Missed the last council meeting?

The main item was the adoption of the 2026-27 City Budget. It passed 3-2 (Zahra, Charles “No”) with deep cuts in public safety, public works, parks and recreation, code enforcement, graffiti removal, the public library—including books—and more. I opposed because we had less severe and more reasonable options that would have achieved the needed reductions without drastically compromising services.

All community members are invited to share their comments, suggestions, and feedback on the City's Solid Waste and Recycling Request for Proposal (RFP) process.

As we near the conclusion of this effort, the final haulers under consideration for contract award are CR&R Environmental Services, Republic Services, and Valley Vista Services.

Community input is an important part of this process. Fullerton residents and business owners are invited to help shape the future of our City’s environmental services. Your questions, concerns, and priorities will guide us in selecting a service provider that truly meets Fullerton’s needs.

Did you miss the budget study session last Tuesday? The discussion centered on the current budget deficit. Some direction was given, including cuts and a possible sales tax measure, but no action was taken.

My direction was to prioritize transparency and accountability measures to rebuild trust and ensure the protection of city funds from any mismanagement. To start, we need to create a lobbyist registry, setup a citizen fiscal oversight committee, and implement the recommendations of the auditor.

The budget discussion will continue, with possible action taken, at the next council meeting next Tuesday, 21st. Stay tuned.

Only about 15 residents showed up to the community budget meeting last Tuesday. Tonight’s second community meeting is the last chance to engage directly with our city management and voice your thoughts on what should be cut or not. Cuts are coming. Don’t be left out from the conversation. Social media venting doesn’t work. Showing up does.
