Happy Clery Compliance Officer Appreciation Day!

Today is Clery Compliance Officer Appreciation Day, which gives officials at institutions of higher education a chance to thank their Clery compliance officers for their dedication and attention to detail.

We particularly want to show our appreciation to Anne Grogan, who is responsible for reviewing each Clery crime, tracking data, drafting the annual report, and so much more.

Your hard work does not go unnoticed.

Community Safety Update

A member of our Titan community was injured today after being hit by a scooter in the Pedestrian Only Zone (POZ) on campus.

The POZ was identified as an area on campus with high pedestrian foot traffic, making it risky for individuals using micromobility devices to travel through.

All too often, we see community members on skateboards, scooters, and bicycles flying through the area, narrowly missing pedestrians.

Please dismount and walk or hold your micromobility devices in this marked area.

Safety is everyone's responsibility.

We are excited to share that earlier this week, we recognized CSUF employee John King for his exceptional service as a building marshal.

Last month, John discovered a fire in the Pollak Library while helping our campus community evacuate during a fire alarm activation. He swiftly and safely used a fire extinguisher to extinguish the flames.

We appreciate John and all of our building marshals who volunteer through our Building Marshal program, coordinated by our Office of Emergency Management & Continuity, to help ensure the safety of our campus community during emergencies and disasters.

Against a black background, a timer counts to 43 seconds while text lists events occurring during that time: 1.1 birthdays are celebrated, 2.73 couples are married and 191 babies are born. When the timer reaches 43, text states that one person takes their life. The video notes that up to 740,000 lives are lost to su***de each year and encourages viewers experiencing mental health concerns to seek help. The closing screen provides Cal State Fullerton Counseling and Psychological Services contact information, along with 911 for emergencies and 988 for the Su***de Prevention Lifeline.

25 years ago today, 2977 lives were lost in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

We remember each person who was taken from their loved ones, and we hold their families and all those who continue to grieve in our hearts. Their lives and memories will never be forgotten.

We give our thanks to the first responders who ran towards danger to protect others, and we honor their courage, resilience, and sacrifice.

Never forget.

Two Housing evacuation drills will occur today, one at 8 a.m. and the other at 6 p.m. These are both meant to familiarize residents with emergency procedures to ensure a safe and swift evacuation in the case of an actual emergency.

Additionally, two campuswide evacuation drills will be conducted on Thursday, September 17th, at 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Both of these evacuations are drills, and there is no actual danger to the campus. In the case of a real emergency, alerts will be sent through the campus’s emergency notification system.

Before the drills, take the time to review exit routes and evacuation locations. Follow all instructions from first responders and building marshals. Treat the drill as if it were a real emergency and do not re-enter buildings until the “all-clear” is given.

The campus evacuation map, evacuation procedures, and evacuation chair location map can all be found in the free TitanSafety mobile app, along with a plethora of other emergency resources.

Your participation is essential to campus safety.

‌‌For more details about the campuswide evacuation, visit the Office of Emergency Management & Continuity on police.fullerton.edu or email [email protected].

Thank you for your help in keeping our campus prepared!
