Copied and shared. Our thoughts and prayers are with .
This Is THE last picture taken of the crew of Baltimore City Engine 14.....I keep playing this picture over in my mind...because I know what they where thinking..."let's go put this thing out, and get back to our coffee"..this fire is what I imagine to be routine...what some of us call a "bread and butter" fire...its WHAT WE DO....we go in..... the fire goes out..we go home...we train for it, we study it...and we live for it...this crew much like mine
reported to work today with plans for tomorrow....we make those plans with the expectation to be there Tomorrow...but there is a small section. And I mean very small section in our mind that knows...it's a very real chance our tomorrow might never come.....and our family and friends will be left speechless, with nothing but memories, broken hearts, old social media posts and stories told from those that worked with us....Tonight We mourn because when a department loses a firefighter, it's not only the department that mourns it's the entire nation....nothing is routine...nothing is normal. What we do is extraordinary.... but we are not always the ones in control...we fight for control. We fight to calm to chaos...and all of us know. Tomorrow is never guaranteed.... we do this job not because of the risk that we might DIE...but because it's how we have chosen to LIVE.......it's a way of life for us and our families.... hug your family and friends a little closer tonight and check on your local firefighter......
