Another exciting annual tradition for our Rotary Club under the belt!

We had a great turnout at this Friday’s Teachers & Paraprofessionals Appreciation breakfast at which over 20 area educators from Katy ISD and Lamar CISD were honored. Recognized guests included teachers and key staff from local high, junior highs and elementary schools including Huggins, Randle, Adams and Morgan.

Honorees received appreciation certificates along with gift cards and meaningful tokens of thanks, offered in recognition of the extraordinary dedication these educators offer to our students and schools.

One of our most fun meetings is coming this Friday -- our Teacher of the Year Breakfast!

The Brazos River Rotary Club honors the Teachers of the Year and the Support Staff/Paraprofessionals of the Year for Fulshear area schools. These educators are so dedicated to their students and we are tremendously grateful for the knowledge, skills, and life lessons they pour into our students. Well done!

Visitors and guests are always welcome to join us at our Friday morning meetings at Weston Lakes Country Club at 8:00 a.m.

Memorial Day is a day to remember the brave men & women who gave their lives to protect and defend the United States and guarantee our freedoms. Our keynote speaker, First Sergeant & Special Operator Dean McBride, served for 22 years in the Army and had military heroes who gave their lives, with some being Medal of Honor recipients.

Sergeant McBride highlighted the contributions and sacrifices of Texans over the years in wars ranging from World War II to recent years.

Other participants in our Memorial Day included Emcee Sam Malone, Troop 941 Scouts, Reverend T.J. Gilmore, Chris Baron, Ronald Duncan, and Tommy Kuykendall. Thank you to Fulshear Mayor Don McCoy, Weston Lakes Mayor Bob Wall, and Simonton Mayor Eric Duhon for their remarks honoring our fallen military service men and women.

We enjoy collaborating with the Fulshear-Simonton Lions Club, the Texian Exchange Club, and the Fulshear Regional Chamber For Commerce to host this national holiday. Special Thanks to the City of Fulshear in providing the use of the Irene Stern Community Center for this occasion.

Aaron Groff, Former Mayor of Fulshear, provided insights into infrastructure and community development at our recent Brazos River Rotary Club meeting. He emphasized the work that is done years in advance in order to ensure things like drainage and mobility get addressed. It can be incredibly complicated when jurisdictional lines are crossed & demand the coordination of local, county, state, and/or federal agencies. Thank you, Mayor Groff, for sharing your experience with us!
