🍷 What an incredible night at the Katy W**e Fest!

From an amazing selection of w**es and spirits to delicious food, great music, exciting w**e pulls, and wonderful company, it was truly a night to remember!

On behalf of the Brazos River Rotary Club, we want to extend a huge THANK YOU to all our generous sponsors, food sponsors, volunteers, and everyone who attended and helped make this event such a success. Your generosity and support mean so much!

Most importantly, the evening was about something bigger than great w**e and good times — supporting the incredible The Brookwood Community and its mission of helping adults with disabilities live meaningful lives filled with purpose, dignity, and joy.

Thank you for making this year’s Katy W**e Fest so special. We can’t wait to see everyone again next year! 🍷🎉

💎 We had the privilege of welcoming Mr. Otto Kris from Transylvania, who shared his inspiring mission of enriching the lives of young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). He calls these remarkable individuals “hidden treasures”—a beautiful reminder of the gifts and potential within every person.

🤝 During his time here, Otto also visited The Brookwood Community, a wonderful organization that the Rotary Club of Brazos River is proud to support. We’re grateful for the opportunity to connect with someone who shares Rotary’s heart for service, dignity, and creating meaningful opportunities for others.

🎉 We’re also excited to welcome our newest Rotary members, Olajuwon & Grace Akinbobola!

💛 Olajuwon and Grace, thank you for bringing your passion for service to our club. We look forward to serving alongside you and continuing to make a difference in our community and beyond.

Service Above Self.

We were honored to welcome Dr. Gerardo Cortina and Fort Bend Regional Partnership CEO Keri Schmidt for an insightful conversation about the Fort Bend 2050 Report and the future of our rapidly growing community last week.

Interesting Facts: 52% of Fort Bend residents hold a bachelor’s degree or higher, while projected median home values could reach $470,000—highlighting both the tremendous opportunity ahead and the importance of thoughtful planning.

As Fort Bend continues to grow, conversations around mobility, housing, healthcare, water, power, and economic development are more important than ever.

We’re grateful to the Fort Bend Regional Partnership for sharing this important work with our club. The future of Fort Bend is something we all have a role in shaping.

We'd love to have you at our next meeting. We meet most Fridays at 8:00 AM at Weston Lakes Country Club. The third week of each month is reserved for our monthly social. Come meet your neighbors, local leaders, and fellow Rotarians—we’d love to have you!

What will life be like when Fort Bend County's population reaches 2 million?

That's the incredibly important question that Fort Bend 2050 tries to address. Come join the Brazos River Rotary Club on Friday morning when Dr. Jeronimo Cortina, UH Professor in Political Science and Executive Director of the UH Population Health Collaborative, and Keri Schmidt, CEO of Fort Bend Regional Partnership, speak to our club. We will hear about opportunities, challenges, and strategies to successfully guide the county moving forward.

The Brazos River Rotary Club meets on Friday mornings at 8:00 a.m. at Weston Lakes Country Club. Visitors and guests are always welcome!
