This afternoon, our members, members of the Caughdenoy Volunteer Fire Department and our families had the opportunity to enjoy a great joint department picnic. It was a great chance for our members to step away from the day-to-day, spend time together, and enjoy some well-deserved time with family and friends.
A special thank you to the Cody Volunteer Fire Department for providing station coverage for our district while our members were able to enjoy the day. Your willingness to step up and help keep our community covered means a lot to all of us.
We are incredibly grateful for your continued support, partnership, and brotherhood. This is what neighboring departments are all about — looking out for each other and the communities we serve! 🚒🤝

Today your Cody Volunteer Firefighters were dispatched to a reported car fire on Ritchie Road.
702 responded confirming an active car fire and established command
711 responded and quickly extinguished the fire
772 and 701 responded with supplemental man power to assist in extinguishment and overhaul
The fire was contained and the scene was cleared without further incident

Last night your Cody Volunteer Firefighters were activated for a mutual aid response requesting the tanker for a fire in the Volney Volunteer Fire Corporation district. Shortly after tanker activation, an engine was requested to respond to a second call in their district and then asked to provide standby coverage for Volney, Phoenix Enterprise Fire Company #1 , Pennellville Volunteer Fire Department and Cody. 751 responded to the fire, while 721 responded with 4 SCBA to the second call. After clearing that call they then provided standby coverage at Volney Station 1.
Units cleared without incident around 1AM.

⚠️ Severe Storms Likely ⚠️

Today has the potential to be one of the more active severe weather days we’ve seen in a while.

The biggest concern is strong & damaging winds (some may be 70mph or higher) capable of bringing down trees and power lines, which could lead to blocked roads and power outages. Some storms may also produce large hail, heavy rain, and isolated tornadoes. Multiple rounds of storms are possible this afternoon and evening. While some thunderstorms are expected this morning, the severe storm risk is mainly between 1:00 PM and 8:00 PM.

Before storms arrive:
- Turn on weather alerts.
- Charge phones and essential devices.
- Secure loose outdoor items.
- Know where you’ll take shelter if a warning is issued.

Don’t wait until storms are overhead to make a plan. Stay tuned into your local media or other trusted source of weather information (like National Weather Service) throughout the day.

Tonight your Cody Volunteer Firefighters took 7WR1 out on the river for some boat operator training. Our rescue swimmers suited up and did some swimming and practiced rescue operations. Support from the shore practiced throwing throw bags and safely assisting a person in distress to shore.
Thank you to Commissioner Okoniewski for letting us use your boat launch tonight.
