Celebrating Our Voices in the Dark 🎧
This week, April 12-18, we celebrate National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week.

While you may never see their faces, our Itawamba County E911 dispatchers are the heartbeat of public safety. They are the calm voices on the other end of the line during your hardest moments, the steady hand guiding emergency units through the night, and the vital link that keeps our community and our responders safe.

Being a dispatcher takes more than just technical skill; it takes immense heart, split-second decision-making, and a level of resilience that most will never have to test.

How you can help:
Say Thank You: If you see a dispatcher out in the community this week, let them know they’re appreciated!

Know Your 911: Help them help you by knowing your location and staying on the line until they have all the info they need.

To our E911 team: Thank you for being the lifeline we can always count on. We see you, we appreciate you, and we are proud to have you on our side.

Meet Our Newest Partner: K9 Hov

The Itawamba County Sheriff’s Department is proud to introduce our newest four-legged deputy, K9 Hov! Pictured alongside his handler, Deputy Taylor, Hov is a 2-year-old Belgian Malinois ready to hit the ground running (and sniffing) in the fight against crime.

K9 Hov has been specially trained and will play a vital role in helping keep illegal drugs out of our communities while enhancing officer safety and response capabilities. Around here, that nose isn’t just impressive… it’s a crime-fighting superpower.

Sheriff Nabors would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the generous donors who made it possible to bring K9 Hov to Itawamba County. Your support is helping us build a safer, stronger, and drug-free community.

The Itawamba County Jail Inmate Litter Program is proud to partner with the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) to help keep our community clean and beautiful.

These photos show inmates working hard to remove litter along Hwy 23 from the Alabama state line to Monroe County, and along Hwy 363 from Peppertown to the Lee County line. Their efforts help improve the safety and appearance of the roads we all travel every day.

We appreciate the opportunity to give back to the community through service and teamwork.

Community Spotlight! 🚓

Today, the Itawamba County Sheriff’s Department had a fantastic time visiting the ICC Early Learning Center in Fulton for their Touch‑A‑Truck.

Deputy Cindy Kimble enjoyed meeting all the little ones and showing them the inside of a patrol car. The kids were full of excitement and curiosity as they explored the lights, buttons, and equipment. Deputy Kimble also shared a few simple safety tips to help keep our youngest community members safe.

A huge thank you to the Early Learning Center for inviting us and to all the kiddos who made the morning so much fun. Building positive connections with our community starts early, and today was a wonderful reminder of that. 💛🚓
