The City of Fulton, Kentucky is now accepting applications for an open position within the City. The City of Fulton, Kentucky is a unique and extremely historic City and part of a Twin City Community (South Fulton, TN) located on the Kentucky/Tennessee line and has an estimated community population of 5,000. The community is situated on the Canadian National Rail Line and the Southernmost section of I69 in Kentucky about forty-five minutes south of Paducah, KY and two and half hours Northwest of Nashville, TN.

The City Commission is seeking a qualified person for the position of Fire Chief. Under general administrative direction from the City Manager, performs a variety of technical, administrative, and supervisory work in planning, organizing, directing, and implementing fire prevention, suppression, emergency preparedness and code enforcement to prevent or minimize the loss of life and property by fire and rescue conditions. The Chief is the top supervisory position in the Department, which is in addition to performing fire and rescue duties. Salary range for the position is $55,000 to $75,000 annually.

The duration of the outage is unknown at this time. Pressure may remain low for a period of time due to Public Works flushing the main lines. The city is strategically situated on the Canadian National Rail Line and the southernmost section of I-69 in Kentucky, about 45 minutes south of Paducah, KY, and two and a half hours northwest of Nashville, TN. Operating under a Commission-Manager form of government, the city blends small-town heritage with a professional, collaborative leadership environment.
Job Summary
The City Commission is seeking a highly qualified, professional, and progressive individual for the position of City Police Officer. The Police Officer under general supervision, performs a variety of law enforcement duties to protect life and property in accordance with applicable laws; patrols the City to preserve law and order by detecting and preventing the commission of crimes; may work in various special assignments, as required; and, performs other related duties.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
• Responding to calls for service, including crimes, traffic hazards, emergencies, and requests for public assistance.
• Performing community-based policing and building positive relationships with residents.
• Investigating crimes and gathering evidence through interviews, searches, and information collection.
• Serving warrants, making arrests, and issuing citations for violations of local, stated, and federal laws.
• Booking prisoners, transporting detainees, and processing evidence and property related to investigations.
• Preparing reports and maintaining records using department computer systems.
• Testifying in court proceedings and parole hearings related to cases worked.
• Managing traffic and crowd control during accidents, public events, emergencies, and parades.
• Investigating traffic accidents, interviewing witnesses, and completing accident reports.
• Enforcing traffic and parking regulations throughout the city.
• Providing emergency first aid, when necessary, until medical personnel arrive.
• Working rotating shifts, nights, weekends, holidays, and emergency callouts as required.
