Very well said. Knowing how to do CPR and use an AED is a skill everyone should know, you never know when you will need to use it.
If you are interested in learning, feel free to use the link below to find a Red Cross CPR/AED course near you. You never know when you could save a life!

RED CROSS LINK-

Last night much of America watched Buffalo Bills Safety Damar Hamlin fall unresponsive on the field in the first quarter. Whether this was Commotio Cordis, Second Impact Syndrome, or any other etiology, America saw first hand how important early CPR is. This is also one of the many reasons you will see the MVFD at all varsity football games at Mexico Academy and Central School District. Our EMTs and non EMTs go through continuous training to provide the best patient care possible for this situation and others, and hope to never have to use those skills. We are fortunate that our school makes safety of players, coaches, fans, and visitors a priority by having an athletic trainer, a school EMT, and our crew there for these events.

Please remember that early CPR makes a difference. Learn CPR and be proficient in your skills.

These men and women gave every thing on September 11, 2001. They have responded to their final alarm. They have responded home to be with the lord. But their job is not done, your job is to now to watch over your fellow emergency workers.

You may be gone but your never forgotten.

As schools begin to open this week please plan extra time for buses and remember all the important safety tips when it comes to school safety.
And don’t just remind yourself, remind your children of these rules and let’s make sure everyone stays safe.
Education and student development starts with feeling safe.

The members of the Palermo Fire Department would like to send our condolences to the families and friends of Madysen Young and Matthew Bice.
They both lost their lives in a tragic accident this week. Along with sending our condolences, we also send our thoughts and prayers to the other two young boys involved, the community, and our fellow first responders who arrived and were unable to help.

There are a few different pages and groups if you are interested in supporting the families. Losing a member of any community is never easy, especially when they were so young.

As a department we do not voice a political opinion, with that being said the visit from Mario Fratto for Congress was unexpected.

We appreciate him stopping in to see what was going on during the benefit on Saturday while making rounds in Oswego County!

With that being said we would just like to make it clear that we are in no way associated with his political campaign and he was in no way associated with the benefit held for our department this past weekend. He was not a sponsor or volunteer.
The Palermo Fire Department is again, not associated with this campaign in any way.

We cannot thank every single person who made yesterday possible enough. We want to start by thanking the DriveWay Inn as they made everything possible! Along with them we want to thank everyone who has helped in any way! Whether it was with a donation, volunteering, or simply stopping by yesterday to support! We are so incredibly thankful for everyone.

The donation made from yesterdays benefit was an incredible $24,097! We are so blessed and again so thankful for everyone, especially the Driveway Inn for hosting this benefit for us!

If you took any pictures yesterday you are welcome to send them to us and we will add some of them to this post! Or feel free to leave them below in the comments!

Thank you again from all the members of the Palermo Fire Department! 🚒

Do you know the true meaning of Memorial Day?

Memorial day (originally called Decoration Day) was first established during the Civil War. It was established as a day to show honor to those who have lost their lives fighting for our country during military service.
For many people it marks the unofficial start of summer, for many children it’s an extra day off school.
Take some time this Memorial Day and remember those who have fought for us. Use some time to teach your children the true meaning of this day, and say your thanks to every veteran you see. Chances are they’re spending this weekend remembering their lost friends and brothers who fought along side them but didn’t make it out.

Thank you to all of our veterans from the Palermo Fire Department.
