Oswego County has just become the First "Work Ready Community" in the Northeast. It's big in the southern States, and in some states where the program has replaced Civil Service exams.

Oswego County Legislator Roy Reehil, led the effort toward gaining the designation for the county starting in 2016. “With so much regional business growth in the pipeline, the implementation of the NCRC for businesses in hiring and for students — college-bound or not — will become obvious almost immediately. Other counties and regions throughout the Northeast are already looking to follow Oswego County’s lead, but I’m proud to say, we will always be the first!”

If you are looking to enhance your employment opportunities or you have a business that needs better ways to evaluate new hires you can find out more about the program at these 2 links.

Oswego County is working hard to increase access to Public Transportation and re-branding buses with new distinctive wraps. Don't let transportation be a barrier to education to enhance your skills, getting to work or meeting any of your medical or shopping needs. To provide your Input on Public Transit and how service to the North Shore can be improved, there will be a community conversation about transportation on Monday, June 24 from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Fulton Polish Home, 153 W. First St. S, Fulton.
“We encourage community members and employers to attend” said Oswego County Director of Mobility Management Heather Snow. “Our residents depend on public transportation to get to work, classes, medical appointments and other essential locations, so it’s crucial to ensure that our transportation plan serves their needs. Feedback from the public will help create a more effective transportation system and shape future transit services in Oswego County.”
Registration is required. To register, go to https://Oswegocountytransport.eventbrite.com.
For more information about the event or Oswego County transportation, contact Oswego County Mobility Management Coordinator Kristen Fragale at 315-746-4221 or [email protected].
