JEFCOED Family,

Jefferson County Schools and offices will be closed on Wednesday, January 17th, 2024. All students and employees will not report to school or work. There will also be no extracurricular activities. At this time, we do anticipate returning to normal operations on Thursday, January 18th.

We have been in contact with emergency management officials today. We have also been out surveying the roads ourselves. Based on the information we have right now, we believe the safest course of action is to stay closed tomorrow. There are still a lot of icy conditions, and we anticipate some problem spots in the morning that would make travel unsafe. Remember, safety for our students, faculty, and staff is our top priority.

Thanks for your patience. Please stay warm. We hope to see everyone on Thursday.

Sincerely,
Dr. Gonsoulin

📌Attention JEFCOED Family,

Due to the threat of winter weather, Jefferson County Schools and offices will be closed on Tuesday, January 16th. There will also be no after-school activities on Tuesday.

We will be monitoring the weather situation for Wednesday, and will send out further communication if a delay or closure is needed. Our biggest concern is making sure our students and staff are safe. We have been taking part in the national weather service briefings, and will continue to do so. We will also continue our conversations with local emergency management officials, so that we can make the most informed decision possible.

Thank you and please stay safe.

Sincerely
Dr. Gonsoulin

Youth Coat Drive
Detective Lisa Turner of our CAN Unit was at the Fultondale Elementary School car line the other morning and noticed a child arrive at school without a jacket. (It was very cold that morning) Detective Turner then went to JCPenney and purchased the child a jacket. This led to Detective Turner coming up with the idea for a coat drive for children at Fultondale Elementary School. Please help us by donating new or unused coats or jackets to help our children. They can be brought to Fultondale City Hall, Fultondale Fire Station #2, or the Fultondale Senior Center. Please see the attached flyer for more details.
