How's this for an awesome story: Mr. Grady had been using our free testing sites to ensure he wasn't spreading COVID-19, but he hadn't yet gotten vaccinated. That is, until this weekend.

Mr. Grady met Officer Newkirk who was working Saturday at our Wake County Southern Regional Center in the Town of Fuquay-Varina where we're offering both free testing and free vaccination five days a week. They just talked for a bit...chatted about the vaccines, about family...and two hours later, Mr. Grady decided to get his shot of protection from COVID-19. He was the last in the Grady family to get vaccinated - and that now means his entire family has protection from the virus and the dangerous variants.

There's so much conflicting information out there about COVID-19. We absolutely understand why people have waited. And what we're seeing is that when people have a chance to just have a conversation - a person-to-person discussion...with someone who perhaps shares their perspectives and concerns, it can help. Talk to your friends, loved ones and neighbors - let them know you care, share your first-hand experience. Let them know a COVID-19 vaccine is the best way to protect them and their families. Share that, as of this week, more than 317 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine been given in the U.S. And make sure they know that when they come to decide it's time to get the shot - there are locations all over Wake County offering a free vaccine, with evening and weekend hours. Find out more at WakeGov.com/vaccine.
