Another fine day for Fuquay-Varina Emergency Food Pantry as our co-directors, Laeron Roberts and Peggy Day, placed another brick in the cross. This brings us over half way to our goal. We are so grateful to our supporters.

Hey All!

We are still looking for volunteers for Run The Quay Race Events! We can't do this event without your support. This event is powered by volunteers! Biggest need is course monitors! You do get up early on Saturday morning, but it is a lot of fun and a great way to help in the community!

Volunteers gathered to pray and to add another brick to our Cross, marking an increase to $486,000 toward our $1M goal. So many wonderful groups and individuals have stepped up to donate. Laeron Roberts delivered the brick and Sharon Talley placed the brick, doing her best Vanna White impression.

A big thank you for the stellar donation drive from Buckhaven, Varina Park and Buckhaven Townhomes! The 1645 pounds of food are being distributed already and the extra $120 in cash helps with the purchase of perishable foods.

Here are the numbers we reported to the Food Bank of Central and Eastern NC for the Month of April.

We served:
523 families
1887 individuals
(This total includes 75 families/250 individuals on Sundays)

We served TEFAP (The Emergency Food Assistance Program) food to:
355 families
1305 individuals

We picked up produce from the food bank twice - once with TEFAP order
and one additional visit.

From our Retail stores we picked up donations of:
ALDI - 514 pounds
Food Lion Broad- 8605 pounds
Food Lion Main- 7696 pounds
Harris Teeter- 1755 pounds

58% of our goods came through Food Bank Programs, the rest came from donations and product we buy from multiple stores in the area. We couldn't operate all month without the generous monetary and food donations from our beloved community. Thank You, and thanks also to the many volunteers who make it happen.
