Former northerners who moved to Alabama teaching ourselves to be farmers (the hard way) raising quality Peafowl, Valais Blacknose Sheep, Highland Cattle, Nigerian Dwarf Goats, and Sebastopol Geese.

We THOUGHT it was a good idea to buy these spools and set them up in the goat yard as a play station. It was NOT.
So now we are taking them apart by hand and tractoring them out to the burn pile. Y'all the insects on these things are like fear factor. 😨
At least the chickens are getting a snack.

Well, I've got a couple more reels to post ASAP for this bonus, which buys a little feed, so they will be posted. 😂
This one is a story of 2 barn cats living with birds. People asked me if I was worried about getting barn cats when I have birds living out there.
Um, no. With a Rhea, Geese, and a swan I am more worried for the cats! 😂
Also a cameo of the beautiful Delilah at the end!

The swan's favorite hobby is starting arguments she absolutely cannot finish. 🤣

They es**rt me like loyal bodyguards, then mug me for feed at the barn. 🐴🐮

Have you heard of the Egg Buddy? It is a cool ultrasound machine for hatching eggs. I have used it for years and love it! Hatching more peachicks!

There was a funny song with this video (that I had never heard of before) but the owner claimed the rights to it, so now you have to watch it in silence. Sorry y'all.

There is nothing wrong with this emu! 😂
He is a normal healthy young boy. They do a silly "dance" when they are excited. When he was a baby he would actually lay down and roll all the way over like a dog! He is too big to roll himself over now, so he just wobbles around.

Your favorite Spalding (green and blue hybrid) peacock finally has a name. Introducing... "Sir Malachite"!
Malachite is a green gemstone. Pretty appropriate I think.
We have 4 eggs from this beautiful boy cooking right now. He didn't make enough to share yet. 😔

In a noisy world, I find my peace right here at home. ❤️

This last reel of the week is a learning post for anyone raising peafowl.
Lesson #1. Peafowl depend on their mom to show them how to eat. Some peafowl fail to figure it out on their own and a lot of people will put a baby chicken with them to show them. I do not want anymore chickens, so this is how I show them. I wet my finger and pick up the food. Works like a charm. Now these 2 chicks will teach the next chicks that hatch and so on...
Lesson #2. These chicks were actively hatching (shells opened) when we had a power outage and couldn't get our generator started for about 45 minutes. The temperature dropped and humidity in their incubator fluctuated prolonging their hatch (making it harder for them) The darker one was hatched with a BAD foot. The ankle was turned sideways and there was no space between the toes. We made him shoes out of card stock and painters tape. You have to fix foot issues right away while bones are still soft from hatching. This baby's was pretty severe and I was worried, but I am happy to say it is all fixed now! 🎊🎉
PS, these are Violet pied chicks and the one with all that white is going to be 🔥

So the Book of Face offered me a pretty decent bonus for posting long reels this week. And that friends, is why I keep posting them. 😂
Today's video is of our morning bacon massage, since it is helping me bring home some bacon. 😉 This is Birm of Birm & Ham (say them together fast, remember we do live in Alabama). We've had these piggy bros for about 5 years and Birm is finally pretty friendly. Ham? Well he gets no belly rubs! 🥴
