🥵☀️ 9/3/26 — TODAY IN EAST CENTRAL ALABAMA…

Well, y’all… September is still acting like August’s rowdy cousin. 🙄😂

🌤️ Today: A mix of sun & clouds, light winds, and a 20% chance of showers/tstorms. Highs will climb right back into the upper 90s, with heat indices up to 107°.

🚨 And yep… we’re STILL under a HEAT ADVISORY through 8 PM Saturday. 🥵

Because apparently Mother Nature looked at us and said, “You know what would be fun? Let’s turn Alabama into an air fryer for a few more days.” 😩🔥

🌙 Tonight: Mostly clear overnight with light winds and lows in the mid-70s. Translation: It’ll be dark, but it sure won’t be cool. 😂

🏈🍔 MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND:
If you’ve got outdoor plans, prepare yourself, honey!

🌡️ Upper 90s will stick around through Sunday, with lower 90s finally making a comeback Monday. Hallelujah! 🙌😂

⛈️ There’s also a small chance of showers/tstorms each day, so keep an eye on the sky — but don’t count on those storms to magically turn us into fall just yet.

So grab your water, your sunscreen, your fan, and whatever little bit of patience you have left. 😂💦

And remember: If you don’t like Alabama weather, just wait a minute… eventually September will remember what season it’s supposed to be. 🍂🏈

Stay cool, stay hydrated, and have a blessed day, y’all! 💕🙏

We’d like to thank everyone for their patience as we continue to work to deliver new City of Gadsden garbage cans and pick up the old ones. As new cans are delivered to the city, our garbage crew begins the replacement process on designated garbage pickup days.

🚨For your can to be picked up, it MUST be sitting on the street/curb. Our employees will continue working to ensure every house gets their cans replaced.

Several reports on the AMSAT status page show the cross-band voice repeater is back online after this week's outage.
Listen to the voice repeater on 437.800 MHz and transmit on 145.900 MHz (CTCSS 67 Hz). More frequencies in the graphic. And don't forget about Doppler shift!

When All Else Fails... 📻⚡

September is National Preparedness Month, a timely reminder that emergencies can happen anywhere, anytime. When severe weather hits or power grids and cellular networks go down, one communication channel remains steadfast: Amateur Radio.

Through organized emergency networks like the Amateur Radio Emergency Service® (ARES®), licensed volunteers provide crucial backup communications to first responders, local emergency managers, and neighbors in need.

How can you get prepared this month?

✅Build a Kit: Include a battery- or hand-crank powered emergency radio.
✅Make a Plan: Establish a family communication strategy for when phone lines are overloaded.
✅Get Involved: Discover how easy it is to earn your amateur radio license and join a network of trained volunteers in your area!

🥵🔥 9/2/26 — TODAY IN EAST CENTRAL ALABAMA, THE WORD OF THE DAY IS… UGH. 😩

Y’all… September, we need to have a little talk. 🤨 Because THIS is not the fall weather we ordered!

☀️ Today: Sunny, HOT & HUMID with light winds and highs in the upper 90s. And just to make sure we’re really miserable, heat indices could reach 108°. 🥵🔥

🚨 HEAT ADVISORY: From 11 AM today through 8 PM Saturday.

Yep… you read that right. THURSDAY. FRIDAY. AND SATURDAY are all looking like a rerun of today.

Oh yay. 😞
Who ordered the three-day oven setting?! Because I’d like to cancel it. 😂

🌙 Tonight: Mostly clear, but still humid, with light winds and lows in the mid-70s. Because apparently even nighttime has decided to participate in the nonsense.

So PLEASE, y’all:
💧 Drink plenty of water!
☀️ Limit your time outdoors.
🥵 Take plenty of breaks if you have to be outside.
❤️ Check on your friends, family & neighbors — especially those who may struggle in this heat.
🐶 And don’t forget those fur babies! If the pavement is too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws!

September is supposed to bring us football, fall leaves and cooler temperatures… not make us feel like a biscuit baking on a dashboard. 😂🏈🍂

Stay cool, stay hydrated, and for the love of sweet tea… DON’T MESS AROUND WITH THIS HEAT! 🥵

Have a blessed day, y’all! 🙏🏻💕
