📣Help us clear up any confusion on social media before going to the polls:

To clarify, voters are not turned away. In a primary election, voters must choose which party’s primary they wish to participate in. Election workers cannot tell voters which candidates appear on which party’s ballot or direct a voter to a particular party ballot.

To assist voters, we provide sample ballots that clearly list the party name and candidates. These sample ballots are posted in multiple locations before voters enter the polling place, and voters may review them before checking in. If a voter requests assistance, poll workers may read the ballot contests and candidate names exactly as they appear on the sample ballot.

Our poll workers are trained to ensure every voter has the opportunity to review the available ballots and make their own selection.

They will be asked “Whose primary/party will you be voting in today?” If they do not know they will be given the sample ballots before checking in. This same process will be followed on Election Day.
