100 YEAR OLD DEPOSIT by Wash & Anna Lipscomb at the former First National Bank at 500 N. Limestone Street in Gaffney's Historic Commercial District! (Deposit book generously donated by Dennis Amos)

The First National Bank of Gaffney was organized in 1897, with its official building being constructed in 1905. The officers of the bank are named on the back cover of the deposit book. The bank operated until February of 1930 when it "failed to open" and began liquidation proceedings under receiver C. H. Dixon.

What would this $50 deposit get you today???

$50 from 1926 would be worth ~$943.27 today. Nearly a week's worth of the average worker's wages, in 1926 that same $50 could have purchased:

Due to the forecasted weather, the Gaffney Station Farmers Market will be closed today.

🌞 Don't forget to join us this Saturday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Gaffney Visitors Center, 210 W. Frederick Street, for Market Day!

🥕 This Saturday is also the FINAL Sprout Buck distribution of the season! Kids can stop by the Sprout Buck booth to receive vouchers to spend with participating market vendors on fresh fruits, vegetables, and other eligible items while supplies last.

We look forward to seeing everyone on Saturday for a fun morning of shopping local and supporting our amazing vendors! 💚🍅🌽
