NREMT CERTIFIED: Huge congratulations to Firefighter Hunter Wylie!
Congratulations to Firefighter Hunter Wylie on officially earning his National Registry EMT (NREMT) certification. EMS is a critical part of what we do and is usually what makes up about 80% or more of the call volume in the fire service across the US.
Earning those NREMT patches is no easy task. FF Wylie had to endure over 150+ hours of classroom and hands on training. Months spent learning medical terminology, patient assessments, pharmacology, trauma care and lifesaving skills. FF Wylie also had to conduct "Ride Alongs" where he had to ride with an EMS provider to acquire a certain number of patient care reports (PCRs). On top of it all, he had to pass the NREMT Cognitive Exam. This is a computer test that changes its difficulty based on the answers chosen to the previous question. With a passing rate of anywhere from 65-72%, FF Wylie showed proficiency and passed.
FF Wylie, we are proud of your hard work and dedication. Your commitment to sharpening your skills makes our crews stronger and keeps our citizens safer. All NSFD apparatus always have a minimum of a NREMT and operate as a minimum of a BLS (Basic Life Support) unit. We do have some Paramedics and have ASL(Advanced Life Support) capabilities.
Join us in congratulating FF Hunter Wylie!!
