Today marks the anniversary of the unsolved homicide of Jay Cecil Thames.
On Sunday, June 8, 2003, at approximately 6:52 p.m., 57-year-old Jay Cecil Thames was found deceased inside his residence at 1115 SW 3rd Avenue. Investigators determined that he had been beaten to death.
Mr. Thames lived in a quad-style apartment building. The front door to his residence was found unsecured, but there were no signs of forced entry. Investigators also learned that he frequently associated with individuals experiencing homelessness who often visited the residence.
More than two decades later, detectives continue to seek information that could help bring answers and justice in this case.
