Create animal track souvenirs and try your luck with our park scavenger hunt or bingo! Follow the footprints to fun from 9:00am to 11:00am at the entry pavilion!

Today is National Mosquito Day! Or as we sometimes call them, Florida's State Bird! Mosquitos are no one's favorite and are known not only for their itchy bites but for their ability to buzz right next to your ear all night while camping. However annoying these little insects are, they play an important role as a source of food for animals like dragonflies, fish, turtles, bats, spiders, and many species of birds. Only female mosquitoes feed on other animals and the saliva contains a painkiller which usually allows the bite to go undetected. Male mosquitoes feed on plant juices or nectar. To deter the bite, we rely often on bug repellent sprays that are designed to confuse the mosquito's receptors so they can't detect carbon dioxide and body heat which are the most common attractants.
