Poe's Honors American Government Welcome to the social networking portal to Professor Poe's Honors American Government class, where Alachua County's best students become its greatest citizens.

This course will focus on the foundation of the American Democracy. We will learn about the origins of the democratic form of government, explore the concept of natural rights and the social contract, study the Constitution and look closely and the history of civil rights. In addition, we will begin to understand the relationship between politics, government, political parties and interest groups and the media.
