Established in 1981, the BEC is a 501 (c) 3 not for profit service organization that brings together the business community and educators by actively building and sustaining quality local partnerships. This organization strives to incorporate the School –to- Work Opportunities Act initiative into BEC workforce readiness programs. The BEC and partners in Wyoming County are collaborating to offer di

rect services helping educators find new ways to integrate work readiness skills (CDOS) into the classroom. The BEC is a locally developed, locally controlled initiative that builds and strengthens collaborations among educators, colleges, businesses, and the community to help all students attain the knowledge and experience necessary for making informed career decisions. Combining a strong foundation of academics with greater career exploration and experience in today's workplace brings a new relevance to learning and teaches skills that students can apply to any choice of career.

This is a brand new program this year! Thanks to a grant from the Wyoming Foundation this program will help students across Wyoming County become involved with local government, and other partners to enhance their communities and earn the NYS Seal of Civic Readiness.

A beautiful evening at the Glen Iris celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Wyoming Foundation. For five decades, the Foundation has supported countless initiatives across Wyoming County, serving as a cornerstone charitable organization. These local institutions strengthen the fabric of our communities in much the same way our founders envisioned 250 years ago. It is especially fitting that the Foundation celebrates its 50th anniversary during our nation’s semiquincentennial year.

We are incredibly grateful for the Foundation’s support through a grant awarded at last night’s celebration. Their investment will help launch our Civic Action Fellowship this fall for students across Wyoming County. The fellowship will connect students with local government and other community institutions while helping them earn the New York State Seal of Civic Readiness.

First day of Medical Camp! Extremely thankful to Genesee Co. BEA for their partnership in this! Our Wyoming Campers are ready for the day! We begin right in the heart of our county at the Sheriff’s office where students learn about emergency first response and more! Students will be treated to Rochester Regional Health in Genesee Co. tomorrow, and round out the week back here at Wyoming County Community Healthcare!

This annual career exploration event connects students from Genesee, Livingston, Orleans, and Wyoming counties with opportunities in Manufacturing, Agriculture, Skilled Trades, and Healthcare through interactive experiences and connections with local employers. Since 2019, more than 6,000 students have explored local career pathways and connected with employers and industry professionals. Thank you to our exhibitors, schools, volunteers, and sponsors for helping inspire the next generation and making these valuable connections possible.
