HALL CO. ANIMAL SHELTER MARKS DOWN ADOPTIONS EVERY FRIDAY, SATURDAY IN JUNE

The Hall County Animal Shelter is kicking off summer with half-priced adoptions every Friday and Saturday in June as part of its in-house adoption event, “Adoption Pool-ooza.”

“Summertime is a wonderful time to add to your family,” Hall County Animal Shelter Manager Stephanie Maloch said. “Whether you enjoy hiking, swimming, visiting parks or simply taking an evening walk, we have adoptable pets ready to become the perfect companion for your summer adventures, and we want to offer a fun way to keep them cool, too.”

As part of Adoption Pool-ooza, the shelter will set up swimming pools in its outdoor play areas for adoptable dogs to enjoy. While supplies last, adopters will also receive a free doggy pool, sprinkler or splash pad to help their new pets keep cool this summer and settle into their new homes.

“We encourage families to come out, spend time with the animals and help make a difference, whether they’re ready for a full-time commitment or not,” Maloch said. “Even spending a little bit of time playing with these pets helps socialize the animals, enriches their day and brings them one step closer to finding a forever home.”

Every Friday and Saturday in June, adoptions will cost the following prices:

• Puppies and small dogs: $42
• Large dogs: $12
• Senior Dogs: FREE
• Urgent dogs/cats: FREE
• Cats/Kittens: $12
• Senior Cats: FREE

All of Hall County’s adoptable pets come spayed or neutered, microchipped and have their first round of vaccinations.

To meet your new best friend, stop by the Hall County Animal Shelter Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. or visit the animal shelter online at hallcounty.org to browse its adoptable pets. For questions, please call the shelter at 678-450-1587.

HALL COUNTY MAINTAINS AAA CREDIT RATING BY FITCH RATINGS

Hall County Government’s AAA Issuer Default Rating (IDR) has been reaffirmed by Fitch Ratings, citing the County’s rating reflects its “financial resilience, ‘strongest’ long-term liability and population metrics, and very low unemployment.”

The AAA IDR rating is the highest possible rating and signifies Fitch’s expectation for the County to effectively manage any short-term spending pressures while maintaining its intergovernmental contract obligations.

“Hall County’s reaffirmed credit rating reflects the County’s longstanding commitment to fiscal responsibility and strategic financial management,” Hall County Board of Commissioners Chairman David Gibbs said. “This achievement speaks to the diligence of my fellow Board members, County leadership, and the staff who maintain a strong financial position while giving taxpaying citizens confidence that public funds are being managed wisely, efficiently, and with long-term stability in mind.”

According to the opinion released by Fitch, Hall County’s key rating drivers are supported by the County’s strong financial resilience, which is a combination of disciplined budgeting practices, healthy reserve levels, and effective management of long-term obligations.

The agency also noted Hall County’s economic and demographic strengths, including its growing population, very low unemployment rate relative to the nation, educational attainment, and strong median household incomes.

“Our focus is to set the standard for excellent local government services in the State of Georgia, and this reaffirmed credit rating reflects that commitment,”
Interim County Administrator John Gentry said. “It reflects the strong financial stewardship and strategic, visionary leadership of our Board of Commissioners, as well as the collective work being done across the County to serve our community responsibly.”

In addition to the proclamation read at last night's voting meeting recognizing May as "Building Safety Month", we wanted to take a moment to highlight our Development Services staff once more, as well as provide resources so you can practice safe building habits.

Strong development services and thorough building inspections are essential for any growing community, especially one experiencing the steady growth seen across Hall County. These teams ensure that new homes, businesses, and public facilities are safe and built to last. They help guide responsible development, protect property values, support economic growth, and keep residents safe by enforcing building codes that prevent hazards before they happen.
