Belva is a solid leader and legend in our department. This award is a good reminder of how blessed we are to have her. Thank you for all you do Belva!

Belva was nominated by five colleagues, a testament to the respect and admiration she has earned through her exceptional leadership, professionalism, and genuine commitment to public safety. With a comprehensive understanding of emergency operations and the vital role communications plays in supporting first responders and the community, Belva leads with calm, clarity, and grace, especially in high-pressure situations.

She is known for her collaborative approach, working seamlessly across divisions within the Police Department and other city departments to ensure operations run smoothly. Just as important, Belva fosters a supportive and people-focused environment in dispatch where her team feels confident, valued, and well cared for. Shop with a Cop is one of the most meaningful programs we support each year, and it’s funded entirely through the generosity of Gainesville Police Association (GPA) members and the annual Chief Steven K. Fleming Memorial Golf Tournament.

The GPA and Abigail’s Arms are committed to strengthening the bond between officers and the community we serve, inviting agencies represented throughout Cooke County.

Partnerships like these allow us to invest directly in the youth of our community and help create positive, lasting connections for them. We’re proud to help bring so much joy and value to Gainesville and the surrounding Cooke County Community.
