Medal of Honor Host City Program

Medal of Honor Host City Program It shall be the privilege and responsibility of the City of Gainesville, Texas to welcome our Nation's Medal of Honor Recipients at every opportunity.

The Medal of Honor Host City Program was established in 2001 to provide residents with a more interactive connection with America’s history, the military and the veteran community. We decided the best approach was to reach out to the men who had served the nation with heroic distinction and at the same time engage the community, especially its children, in the patriotic process.

nor Host City Program has won the appreciation of the Recipients who have experienced Gainesville’s small town, patriotic hospitality; many have returned again and again over the years, and encouraged other Recipients to attend. Since its inception, our Medal of Honor Host City Program has hosted almost half of our nation’s Medal of Honor Recipients who have inspired our community with their message of patriotism, sacrifice, courage and life values.

Thank you, J.B., for spending time with us in Gainesville to learn more about our program and the community that makes it possible 🇺🇸. From the Medal of Honor Host City Museum on the North Central Texas College campus, J.B. met with MOHHC President Tommy Moore as part of his work with Texas Country Reporter and Texas Monthly.

Tommy partnered with the City of Gainesville to introduce J.B. to a few of the local organizations and businesses that help make Gainesville a welcoming destination for Medal of Honor Week visitors and guests year-round. A special "thank you" to our partners at Historic Downtown Gainesville and North Texas Wine Country for sharing a taste of what makes our community so special.

MOH Recipient James Taylor ❤️🤍💙

He caught the attention of some of the attendants on his flight. Their connection was obvious-- they recognized the value of his stories and were kind and respectful in their interactions with him and all of our guests. When they stepped of the plane, we had to capture their connection before everyone went their separate ways. Just another example of moments we will treasure with our honored guests for years to come.

Words cannot express how thankful we, the Medal of Honor Host City Program, are to have American Airlines as our official airline partners. They help make sure that Medal of Honor Week starts and wraps strong each year, showing our guests the best travel experience 🇺🇸✈️
