352Arts Discover, connect, and engage—352arts is your gateway to the dynamic creative and artistic cultural community of Gainesville and North Central Florida.

What is the 352ArtsRoadmap? It is a set of priorities that will help chart the future of arts and culture in Gainesville and Alachua County over the next 5 to 10 years. Why is the 352ArtsRoadmap important? A healthy cultural sector will support the economic development of our region by generating revenue, creating new jobs, attracting tourists and enhancing the area’s quality of life, making it mo

re desirable to new investment. How is the 352ArtsRoadmap being developed? During the coming months, through a series of focus groups/stakeholder dialogues, community-wide surveys and public workshops, we will answer the following questions:
• What cultural and creative activities currently exist in the area?
• What is missing, wanted and needed?
• How can the arts further impact the economic growth of the region and propel its priorities?
• What venues, facilities and infrastructure are required, and how will they be sustained? Who is involved? As the designated Local Arts Agency of Alachua County, the City of Gainesville Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department is leading this initiative with the support of: the Florida Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs and Florida Arts Council; VisitGainesville; the Gainesville-Alachua County Cultural Affairs Board; the University of Florida’s Center for Building Better Communities; the creative community; and a group of dedicated arts stakeholders, community leaders and educators. "PASSING THROUGH" now on display in our Thomas Center gallery until May 20.

Paynes Prairie is a notorious liminal space in Gainesville, somewhere most people experience only in passing from the highway, yet layered with geological instability and long histories of human settlement. The prairie is neither fully land nor fully water; during different moments it has functioned as a lake, village site, transportation corridor, and now a preserved landscape bordered by constant vehicular traffic. Through this communally created paper clay installation, we highlight the instability and threshold quality—here, the boundaries between the natural and manufactured world blur...

Call to Artist: Request for Qualifications - City of Gainesville Regional Transit System (RTS) - Eastside Bus Transfer Station Public Art

The City of Gainesville Regional Transit System (RTS), in partnership with the Gainesville Art in Public Places Trust and City of Gainesville’s Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department, is inviting professional artists and artist teams to submit qualifications for a public art opportunity at the new Eastside Bus Transfer Facility.

RTS, which provides more than 4.8 million passenger trips annually, is seeking artists to integrate functional, site-specific artwork into transit infrastructure. This opportunity focuses on transforming everyday elements—such as bike racks, benches, seating, decorative fencing, and tree guards—into meaningful public art that enhances the rider experience and reflects the identity of Gainesville.

Artists are encouraged to consider clarity and communication in their work, incorporating representational, narrative, or commemorative approaches that connect with the public and strengthen a sense of place.

Through this RFQ process, three or more finalists will be selected to develop proposals for creatively designed functional artwork. The project budget is $32,534.38, inclusive of all design, fabrication, and installation costs. Three (3) finals will each receive an honorarium of $1,000 to develop and present a site-specific proposal, either in person or virtually.

Submissions are open to professional artists with experience in large-scale, site-specific work. Deadline for submission is
