Happy Women’s History Month! ⚡️

Today we’re featuring Amanda Gorman, 22-year-old poet and activist from Los Angeles, California. Gorman is celebrated in her own right, but recently saw a surge of recognition as she delivered her poem "The Hill We Climb" at the inauguration of U.S. President Joe Biden. Her inauguration poem generated international acclaim for her work with focuses on oppression, race, feminism and a few Hamilton references. This is also the kind of work that earned her the honor of being the first person to be named to the National Youth Poet Laureate in 2017.

“For there is always light, if only we’re brave enough to see it — if only we’re brave enough to be it,” Gorman said in the final lines of her moving poem.

For today’s Black History Month feature we’re highlighting Stacey Abrams!

Stacey Abrams is an acclaimed American politician, voting rights activist, and author. She was the first woman to lead either house in the Georgia Assembly in 2006 and the first Black person elected to lead in the Georgia House of Representatives in 2010. Stacey founded the Fair Fight initiative in 2018 to give all Americans an equal voice and protect voters' rights. She is widely credited for helping Democrats organize to successfully flip Georgia blue in the 2020 election.

She is a woman of color we can look up to as a fearless fighter for the democratic principles she stands for.

Vice President Elect Kamala Harris made history yesterday by becoming the first woman, and the first Black and South Asian woman elected to be Vice President. Delivering yesterday’s victory speeches, she wore all white to honor the suffragettes.

“While I may be the first woman in this office, I will not be the last.”

Congratulations to Vice President Elect Harris for this momentous achievement!!! ⚡️
