Guest Speaker: Woody Graham,

Golf Camp Mr. Graham runs a golf camp, primarily for young children, but also serves people of all ages who are interested in learning or improving their golf game. He enjoys the young to give them the fundamentals of golf the enjoyment of playing. He began the camp teaching 3 kids and is now up to 50 kids. He has taught a teenage girl from Era, who went to the state golf tournament. Forty-two kids whom he has mentored have received college golf scholarships. He said that young people are getting more interested in golf, as there are more golf “influencers” than ever before. He has been deeply involved in golf and teaching for over 40 years. My Fellow Lions,
The golf committee did an outstanding job with this year's golf tournament. The rain the night before did nothing to dampen the enthusiasm of 44 players and 31 hole sponsors for this year's event. Under partly cloudy skies and with a cool north wind, Cade set forth this year's group for a fun 18 holes of golf. Lane will tally the funds, pay the remaining bills and report on this year's profit at an upcoming meeting.
Golfers are always looking for tips to improve their game. This week our speaker is well known for providing just that!
Woody Graham, owner of and swing coach for The Range of Gainesville has helped many improve their skills. Woody also coaches several youth teams from local schools.
Please join your fellow Lions to welcome Woody back for the second time as our speaker.
Lunch at 11:30am followed by our meeting and Woody's presentation at noon.
Special thanks to Cynthia for providing the notes of our last meeting. Please see attached.

Guest Speaker Cooke County Court at Law Judge John Morris:

The soon retiring judge spoke of his 30 year long career and his many courtroom, experiences. In the beginning, the rules to be a County Judge were to be, at least 24 years old, male, with no legal training required. However, he got a degree and has had legal training. He has served six elected terms. The Cooke County Court name was changed to Cooke County Court at Law, a few years ago. He has three who work for him, a bailiff, court coordinator and a court reporter. He handles criminal mischief cases that could require someone to be sent to jail, but not the penitentiary. The bulk of his work is with wills and probate cases. The most notable probate case that he handled, was that of Rodeo Cowboy Larry Mahan. He died three years ago, but his probate case was just settled, last month. There are three courts in Cooke County, the Court at Law, the District court and the Cooke County Court. Judge Morris stated that for the first time in Cooke County history, the three county courts will all have female judges. He took several questions from the audience, many about wills and probate.

My Fellow Lions,
We all know the tremendous work that goes with the Medal of Honor Celebration each year. But, how about all the other activities the city hosts?

As you know, there are many. Plus, toss in parks, playgrounds, sports fields & courts and a much loved zoo and swimming pool.
Kevin Gant is the manager of the Parks & Rec Dept for the City of Gainesville. Kevin oversees it all, and he does it well.

Please plan to join us to meet Kevin and learn about how he and his crew keeps it all beautifully organized.

Join your fellow Lions for lunch at 11:30am. The meeting will start at noon with Kevin's presentation.
