The Chamber’s Annual Corporate Sponsor Advisory Board met this week at Holy Cross Germantown Hospital in Germantown. We welcomed our State Delegate from District 15 Lily Qi and the MD Deputy Secretary of Commerce Stephen Rice to join us for a conversation about business competitiveness in Maryland.

We also enjoyed lunch catered by Smokey Glen Farm - delicious.

Takeaways from our conversation - the state has several programs to attract and retain businesses in target industries or with many employees, but small business owners continue to feel the pinch in Maryland, and in Montgomery County. We need to do more to make it easier to do business in Maryland and in Montgomery County. Small business is the backbone of our economy and we have to do better. Outmigration of business and wealth from Montgomery County and from the state is real and documented. To combat this, we must do better, and we must elect leaders who are willing to put programs into place that will grow the economy to keep people investing here.
