Today we want to thank and recognize Kathy Phillips for her incredible dedication and service to Jo Daviess County.

In 1985, Kathy was hired part-time in the Circuit Clerk’s Office by Terry Swing during the summer between her freshman and sophomore years at Highland Community College. After earning her associate degree in Business Management, she was hired full-time and began what would become a remarkable 41-year career serving the citizens of Jo Daviess County.

Following Terry Swing’s retirement, Sharon Wand was appointed Circuit Clerk and later appointed Kathy to the position of Chief Deputy Circuit Clerk. After 42 years of dedicated service to Jo Daviess County, Sharon Wand retired, and on October 1, 2018, Kathy was honored to be appointed Circuit Clerk to complete her term.

Kathy later ran unopposed for the office of Circuit Clerk in both 2020 and 2024.

After more than four decades of faithful public service, Kathy will officially retire on August 3, 2026.

Thank you, Kathy, for your professionalism, dedication, kindness, and commitment to the people of Jo Daviess County. Your years of service and leadership have left a lasting impact on our community.

We wish you nothing but happiness, relaxation, and many blessings in this next chapter of life. Congratulations on a well-earned retirement!

Last week, Dana Timmerman, County Clerk of Jo Daviess County, conducted the official ballot lottery to determine which party would appear first on the ballot in the upcoming November elections.

Republican Precinct Committeeperson Sue Marron and Jan Youtzy, a member of the Jo Daviess County Republican Women, were present as witnesses for the drawing.

We want to thank County Clerk Timmerman for doing a great job conducting the process professionally and fairly. We are also proud to announce that Republicans will appear first on the ballot in the upcoming November elections in Jo Daviess County.

Jo Daviess County Republican Central Committee

The Jo Daviess County Republican Central Committee is currently looking for Republicans interested in serving on the County Board.

The deadline for appointment is June 1st, and we currently have two open districts where we are seeking candidates:

District 1 – East Dubuque / Dunleith Area
Currently no Democrat or Republican is on the ballot.
This is a completely open seat.
District 11 – West Galena & Part of Rawlins (Galena Area)
Currently has a Democrat on the ballot.
There is currently no Republican candidate filed.

The requirements to run are simple, and this is an important opportunity to help shape the future of Jo Daviess County.

We desperately need new voices, younger leadership, and people willing to step forward and serve their communities.

Jo Daviess County Republican Central Committee Announces Precinct Committeepersons and Calls for New Members

Jo Daviess County, IL — The Jo Daviess County Republican Central Committee is proud to announce its current Precinct Committeepersons (PCs) serving communities across the county. These individuals play a vital role in representing voters at the local level and helping guide the direction of the Republican Party.

These committeepersons were elected or appointed at the recent Jo Daviess County Republican Convention.

Chairman Michael Dittmar emphasized the importance of continued involvement and growth within the organization.

“We are always looking for dedicated individuals who care about their communities and want to be involved,” said Dittmar. “Our strength comes from local engagement, and there is a place for anyone who wants to step up and serve.”

The Committee is actively seeking new members and encourages residents interested in public service, local leadership, or supporting Republican values to get involved. Even if your township already has a committeeperson, there are still open precincts across the county where you can serve.

Regular meetings of the Jo Daviess County Republican Central Committee are held on the second Wednesday of each month.
