One of our favorite winter pastimes at Boulder Creek is bird watching. We have 2 bird feeders you can fill (with seed we provide) and watch them gather. Even better, drive over to Eagle Point Park, just north of Dubuque on the Mississippi River, near Lock & Dam 11, and watch them feed. Amazing creatures!

Winter is here and there's plenty to do in Galena... downhill skiing at Chestnut Mountain; cross country skiing, ice skating or sledding at the Eagle Ridge Nordic Center; great shopping in town; plenty of restaurants & pubs; OR just chill out with a hot toddy or glass of wine and hang at our house. Morel mushroom season is coming! If you're a fan of this nutty, meaty treasure, morel hunting is a popular pastime around Galena in April & May. We have lots of woods! They can be found around dead Elms, old Ash or Apple trees. We've even find them in the woods behind the house, but there's miles of wooded areas to look through. They love rain and cool nights, but start to poke through the ground as days get warmer. We have spring availability. Kids love it here!
