Today in Galena VFC History - September 1st.
1960 – The fire company voted to purchase a new Ambulance.
1981 – Fire Box 30-80, Rt. 301 & 313 – Engine 31, Engine 32, Tanker 34 & Rescue 36 on the tractor trailer fire. IC – Chief Jack Alfree.
1990 – Ambulance 37 mutual aid to Cecilton Vol. Fire Co on the MVC, Warwick.
1991 – Engine 32 mutual aid to Chestertown Volunteer Fire Company on the building fire, Eliason Building. Engine 32 originally transferred to Kennedyville and was called to the scene.
1993 – Rescue Box 30-3, Rt. 299 & 290 – Ambulance 33, Ambulance 37, Engine 38 & Rescue 3 on the MVC. IC – Assistant Chief Scott Rodney.
1994 – Chief Chris Powell reported that Tanker 3 has been placed in service after the new chassis upgrade – 1984/1994 GMC/White/Volvo Barton American 750 GPM pump with a 4,400-gallon Tech Weld aluminum tank. Total price of $70,000.00 to purchase chassis and remount pump & tank.
1994 – Fire Box 30-80, Rt. 301 & the 118 mile-marker – Engine 38 on the vehicle fire. Mutual aid received from Community Fire Company Of Millington,Md. IC – Assistant Chief Ed Connolley.
1999 – Engine 3-2 & Tanker 3 mutual aid to Chestertown on the house fire, Lovers Lane.
2011 – The fire company voted to stop blowing the siren for emergency calls.
2017 – Tanker 3 mutual aid to Chestertown on the house fire, Buck Neck Rd.
2018 – Ambulance 3, Fire Boat 3, Utility 3 & Utility 3-1 mutual aid to Kennedyville Volunteer Fire Company on the water rescue, Sassafras River, in the aera of Lloyds Creek.
2019 – Engine 3, Tanker 3, Tower 3 & Utility 3 mutual aid to Cecilton on the house fire, Edge Water Dr. Townsend transferred to Galena.
