Attention Jarman Avenue Residents:

As road work continues on Jarman Avenue, we ask that all residents please leave their trash cans in their driveways and not in the roadway.

Trash collection will still occur tomorrow, and the trash crews have been notified of the ongoing work. Keeping trash cans out of the road will help ensure the safety of workers, residents, and vehicles, while also allowing the road work to proceed as smoothly as possible.

[2 PM Monday]: A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for DE, MD, and portions of NJ and PA until 9 PM. Storms will be capable of producing locally damaging wind gusts, hail, and locally heavy rainfall. A brief tornado cannot be ruled out.

🚧 Road Closure & Water System Maintenance Notice 🚧

Beginning tomorrow at 8:30 AM, Phelps Avenue between Division Street and Virginia Avenue will be closed to traffic while the Town conducts assessment and maintenance work on the water system.

Residents on Phelps Avenue may experience temporary water service interruptions during the maintenance process.

At this time, the duration of the work is unknown. Additional updates will be provided as more information becomes available and the scope of the necessary repairs is determined.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to maintain and improve the Town’s infrastructure.

🚧 Road Improvement Notice – Jarman Avenue 🚧

The Town of Galena will begin repaving Jarman Avenue on June 22, 2026. The project is expected to take a maximum of three (3) days to complete, weather permitting.

The roads will remain passable during construction; however, residents should expect temporary delays and use caution while traveling through the area. As part of this project, speed humps will also be installed to help address traffic speed concerns and improve neighborhood safety.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation while these improvements are completed!

This past week, representatives from the Town of Galena attended the annual Maryland Municipal League (MML) Summer Conference in Ocean City. The conference provided valuable opportunities for our Mayor, Council, and staff to learn about municipal government, network with local leaders from across Maryland, and connect with businesses and organizations that can help support our community.

While there, the Town was honored to receive recognition as a 2026 MML Banner City, an award that recognizes municipalities for their commitment to leadership, education, and community engagement. Council Member John Carroll also served as an instructor during conference sessions and assisted in leading the Wandering Delmarva Waterways Tour.

We are excited to bring the knowledge, ideas, and connections gained at the conference back to Galena as we continue working to strengthen our community.
