The Post has nearly 250 members and is dedicated to helping our fellow veterans and active duty military and their families.

We had a great time at Costa Catholic School yesterday ! Thank you Costa for inviting us to participate in your red white and blue day. Honor guard members Terry Bruns, Bill Tomlin, Dean Johnston, Steve German, John Campbell, JM Knuth, Mike Lummis were given special recognition. The Honor guard drafted Father Ernie (an Air Force vet) to assist us as well. Thanks Father Ernie.
If you want to feel good about America just listen to a bunch of 1st and 2nd graders belt out "God Bless the USA" at the top of their voices !

Honor Guard will be at Costa School today at 1:45 PM to Honor America, Veterans, and their great school. Should be a great time !

Any member who might be interested is invited to Costa School on Wed Feb 1st at 1:45 PM. They are honoring all veterans on that day and will have a short ceremony. Dress for the day will be blue blazer. So far I have 5 members and hope to have more. Thanks

We are welcoming the Cuba American Legion Post to the Stockdale Military Museum this evening. They will hold their regular monthly meeting and then tour the museum. Great to have them visit !

We had a really good time last night at the Post Holiday Party ! Lots of good food courtesy of Big Katz BBQ. If you made reservations and didn't show up you really missed out. We remembered our fallen comrades, honored Susan Cunningham for all she does for all veterans and honored Frances hawthorne for all she does for our Post. Each member who attended was given a special pin and JM Knuth was the winner of the special Honor Gaurd lapel pin. Everyone agreed we need to do this every year and I am sure it will get better and better !

It is with great sadness that I must inform you of the passing of Past Commander Mike DeWitt early this morning. Our prayers and thoughts go out to Sandy and the entire family.

Hats off to jane Easterly and all the staff at the Galesburg Public Library for a great time yesterday to Honor the 75th Anniversary of Pearl Harbor Day. Think there was about 40 in attendance which included some school aged kids. 7 or 8 VFW members and Frances represented the Auxilary as well. Very encouraging and we hope to work with the library on future projects.

On December 7 2016 there will be a Pearl Harbor Remembrance Event at the Galesburg Public Library from 2-4 PM. It will be held upstairs. Should be a good event so plan on going. If you were a young person when this tragic event happened it would be great if you could attend and share your memories of that day.

Attention all members and friends of Post 2257. A celebration of life will be held for our Commander Bill Knott Thursday November 17 2016 at our Post Home. Military rites will be conducted at 1:00 PM with the celebration of his life immediately following. Uniform shirts for members will be the dress of the day. It would be most appreciated if members and/or the Auxilary could donate some desserts, the post will furnish sandwich and lunch items.
