What an awesome way to celebrate National 4-H week!

Last Sunday, the Knox County 4-H Federation team had a busy afternoon showing their 4-H spirit and giving back to our community!

🚜 We decorated the front doors at Galesburg Tractor Supply.
🥫We shopped at Aldi’s for items to support our county vs. county canned food drive.
🍀We decorated the doors at the Extension Office.
🤝 We wrapped up the day with our October Federation meeting!

We are proud of our Federation members for taking the time to spread 4-H Spirit!

4-H FOOD DRIVE CHALLENGE!

It’s Henderson 4-H vs. Knox 4-H vs. McDonough 4-H vs. Warren 4-H in a friendly competition to help give back to our communities!

From October 1 through November 16, each county will be accepting canned goods at their local Extension Office. All donations will go directly to food pantries in their respective counties before Thanksgiving. We encourage our clubs to work together to donate the most canned goods, spices, and nonperishable items to help their county win the contest!

How will we determine the winner?
To make the competition fair between counties of different sizes, we’ll calculate the total number of canned goods collected per 4-H member in each county. The county with the highest percentage will be crowned the winner!

📅 Due: November 16
📍 Drop-off: Knox Agri Center

The county with the largest percentage of canned goods collected will be rewarded with Popcorn Party boxes that our members can enjoy at their next club meeting!
Let’s see which county can collect the most and make the biggest impact in their community!

Save the date! National 4-H Week is Oct. 4-10, and we’re getting ready to celebrate all
things Illinois 4-H!

Throughout the week, we’ll celebrate the young people, volunteers, families, educators,
and communities that make 4-H possible and help youth build the skills they need to be
for whatever comes next.

Monday, Oct. 5: Go Green
Wear your favorite 4-H green, snap a photo, and share your Illinois 4-H spirit on social media!

Thursday, Oct. 8: Thankful Thursday
Help us celebrate the volunteers, educators, mentors, leaders, and others who make 4-H possible. Share a shoutout to someone who has made a difference in your 4-H experience!

Knox County 4-H members are invited to a Community Service Drop-In Night to celebrate 4-H Week!
We’ll have 5 service stations—participate in all, just one, or a few:
- Blanket tying for Galesburg OSF
- Burp Cloth making for Boots and Blessings
- Puzzle Coloring for Galesburg Nursing Homes
- Take and Make Cookie Decorating Workshop kits
- Chex Mix Making for Club Leaders

All members who attend the 4-H Week Community Service Drop In night will leave with a take and make cookie decorating workshop kit that they can complete at home and share photos with Emma to take part of our 4-H Week fun!

Celebrate 4-H Week with a Take & Make Cookie Decorating Workshop!

Get creative this 4-H Week with our Take & Make Cookie Decorating Workshop! Members can pick up a kit, take it home, and have fun decorating their cookies.
What’s included in my Kit?

Each kit will include everything you need to get started:

4 cookies
Icing in a piping bag
Cookie decorating directions
A QR code to the 4-H Cake Decorating Project Book

When can I pick up my kit?

Kits can be picked up October 8th and 9th at the Knox County Extension office 8:00 am - 4:00 pm
How do I Register?

Register for your cookie decorating kit through ZSuite, or contact Emma at [email protected] to reserve your kit.

Once you’ve decorated your cookies, take a photo of yourself with your finished cookies and send it to Emma at [email protected]. We’ll be sharing member photos online throughout 4-H Week!

*Hint: this take-home workshop counts as a county-wide project learning experience.*

ZSuite is live and ready for member enrollment for the new 4-H year!

As a quick reminder, if you were a 4-H member last year, you have to be enrolled in ZSuite by December 1, 2026 to be eligible to exhibit in the 2027 4-H Show or Fair. Members must be enrolled in livestock projects by January 1, 2027, and general show projects by March 1, 2027. Enrolling in a project in ZSuite means that you want to learn more about it during your 4-H year. You will tell us later what you plan to bring to the fair in FairEntry at a later time.
