The Rotary Club of Galesburg spent our weekly meeting packing period kits for Loving Bottoms Diaper Bank. Period Poverty is a global issue that many face accessing menstrual products. Loving Bottoms distributes supplies through a trusted network of local partner agencies, ensuring supplies reach those in need efficiently and respectfully. This week's member spotlight is Nikki Kreps Harrison!

As one of our newer Rotary members, Nikki has already discovered one of the best parts of being a Rotarian:

Rotary is all about building connections, serving our community, and creating lasting change and we're so glad Nikki has joined us on that journey.

This week's Member Monday features Neal Miller, a dedicated Rotarian whose impact extends far beyond our club. Over the years, Neal has served in numerous leadership roles with both Galesburg Rotary and District Rotary, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to Service Above Self.

When asked why Rotary matters to him, Neal shared:

"I joined Rotary to meet new people, make new friends and serve others. I love Rotary because it has allowed me to make friends locally and around the world all while serving others. I believe in Rotary's Vision: 'Together, we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change—across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.' Rotary has and continues to change me, making me the best person I can be."

Thank you, Neal, for your years of leadership, service, and dedication to making a difference in our community and throughout Rotary. Your passion for bringing people together and creating lasting change is an inspiration to us all. We are so thankful to have you in our club!

The Rotary Club of Galesburg celebrated the start of a new Rotary year on June 25 with the installation of President Abby Thomas and the club's 2026-2027 officers.

The ceremony recognized outgoing President Scott Carnes for his leadership and service while welcoming a new board committed to continuing Rotary's mission of making a difference in our community and around the world.

In her remarks, Abby reflected on the mentors, family members, friends, and fellow Rotarians who have shaped her journey.

"I am who I am because of the people that you are," she shared. "I believe that we can all have impact, and that this year my goal is to not only leave an impact on our community and around the world but also have what we do make a lasting impact on us as volunteers and global citizens."

Inspired by Rotary International's theme of creating lasting change, Thomas encouraged members to continue building on the club's strong tradition of service, leadership, and fellowship.

As the Rotary Club of Galesburg begins another year of service, we are confident that Abby's leadership will help support meaningful projects, and create lasting change.

Last week, we had the privilege of recognizing two individuals with our annual Rotary Service Awards.

Congratulations to Tom Simkins, recipient of the Verne W. Dowers Award, which honors a community member who has shown immense support to our community and area. Through countless volunteer projects, beautification efforts, and community improvements, Tom continues to help make Galesburg a better place for all.

We also congratulate Dylana Larson, recipient of the Clarendon E. Van Norman Award, presented annually to a Rotarian who has demonstrated outstanding service to our club and community. Dylana’s commitment to Rotary, community organizations, and connecting people with resources truly exemplifies Service Above Self.
