🚨 UPDATE 🚨

WOW! You guys really showed up! Thank you all SO much for the incredible generosity and support you’ve shown us! We have received an overwhelming response to our donation request, and we truly cannot thank you enough. We are currently taking inventory of everything we’ve received and will be following up with those who have already reached out or left messages about donating.

At this time, we are going to pump the brakes on accepting any additional donations while we get everything organized and determine what we still need. We are so grateful for everyone who took the time to dig through their garages, basements, storage spaces, and homes to find items that could help us with our training. Your willingness to support our firefighters and invest in better training means more than you know.

🚨 Cleaning out your basement? Replacing an old appliance? Don't throw it away just yet! 🚨

The Galesburg Firefighters Association is looking for donations of old furniture, appliances, bedding, and adult clothing to help us create realistic training environments for our firefighters. We are currently looking for:

🛋️ Small couches and chairs
🪑 Tables
🧺 Washers and dryers
🔥 Ovens/stoves
🧊 Refrigerators
🛏️ Bedding
👕 Old adult clothing
*Looking for bigger furniture/appliances*

Inoperable appliances are actually preferred! These items will be used inside our training buildings during live-fire and smoke training, helping us practice in conditions that closely resemble the emergencies we respond to in our community. So before you haul that old couch or broken appliance to the dump, consider donating it to your local fire department!

Yesterday, Galesburg Firefighters Wells & Scott joined other firefighters from across the state at Muscular Dystrophy Association’s summer camp. This is an opportunity for kids affected by neuromuscular diseases to join together and have fun with others with similar experiences.

Structure Fire at 863 W. Third Street

Galesburg, IL (July 14th, 2026)
The Galesburg Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 863 W. Third Street today, Tuesday, July 14th at 6:47 AM. The response included all three fire stations and the 12 personnel on duty. Upon arrival, personnel encountered a residential structure fire with heavy smoke showing from the eaves and the rear corner of the house. Neighbors informed arriving fire crews that the home was occupied. Battalion Chief Matt Cain established command.

The Central Station fire crew forced entry into the front of the home, located and removed a victim. The Brooks Station fire crew provided medical attention until GHAS arrived to administer patient care and transport the victim to OSF St. Mary's Medical Center. The Brooks Station fire crew then used a second hose line to extinguish the fire at the rear of the home. In addition to one victim rescued, two cats were also rescued from the home; however, one dog succumbed to smoke inhalation.

An emergency callback of off-duty personnel was initiated to provide emergency coverage for the city. Assistance was also provided by Galesburg Hospital Ambulance Service, the Galesburg Police Department, the Knox County Humane Society, and Galesburg Public Works. Galesburg Fire Department Investigators are investigating the cause of the fire.
