Galesburg Public Library Foundation

Galesburg Public Library Foundation We support the Galesburg Public Library with resources that help our community learn and connect.

The Galesburg Public Library Foundation and its trustees have always championed the vision for a new library for the City of Galesburg. In 2007, just prior to the formation of the Foundation, the idea for a new library was brought to the attention of the Galesburg City Council. Since that point, the Galesburg Public Library, Galesburg Public Library Foundation, Friends of the Public Library, and committed community members have been putting in the hard work to turn that vision into reality.

When Candace D’Agnolo moved to Galesburg, she brought 25 years of pet industry experience and a big vision for downtown. Before Dante & Dory’s Pet Emporium ever opened its doors, her team needed a place to connect, brainstorm, and build their business plan without breaking the bank.

They found their perfect temporary headquarters right inside the library's free meeting rooms.

Swipe through to see how the library served as a vital stepping stone for a local business, and how it continues to adapt to Candace's life today as a parent.

Four and a half members… and a whole community.

That’s how the Hispanic Latino Resource Group started — and today, they’ve helped award over $50,000 in scholarships to local students.

For Becky Canfield and Irene Ponce, the Galesburg Public Library is where that work comes together.

We were so excited for the kick off of Books in the ’Burg at the Farmers Market this weekend!

This brand-new outreach service brings books directly to kids through “pop-up library” sites across Galesburg — helping remove barriers and connect more families with reading, learning, and summer fun.

Books in the ’Burg is sponsored by the Galesburg Public Library Foundation as part of our Access for All initiative, supporting programs that take the Library beyond the building and meet families where they are.

What a wonderful start to a summer of stories, connection, and access for all.

"Songs of the Illinois Freedom Road" is the powerful new musical performance by Chris Vallillo featuring the songs, stories, and struggles of the Illinois Underground Railroad. The program was developed by Looking For Lincoln to be performed in conjunction with communities hosting the exhibit Journey to Freedom: Illinois’ Underground Railroad.*

Vallillo's show features rare first-person accounts of freedom seekers who passed through Illinois. There is no cost to attend the performance, and no reservations are required.

*Visit the Journey to Freedom: Illinois’ Underground Railroad exhibit in the Blick Art Materials Local Artist and Author Display on the second floor of the library during the month of May. This opportunity is proudly presented by The Abraham Lincoln National Heritage Area, also known as Looking For Lincoln.
