To provide Daviess County residents, businesses and industries, non-profit organizations, and local governments the education and support necessary to reduce the loss of life and human suffering; to minimize property damage

; and to protect environmental sensitive areas from all types of disasters through a comprehensive, risk-based, all-hazard emergency management program. Vision Statement:
The goal of the Daviess County Emergency Management Agency is to educate the Citizens of Daviess County about their ongoing role in preparing for emergencies through education, community outreach and training. Through creating an increased emphasis on disaster preparedness, the Daviess County Emergency Management Agency looks forward to reinforcing interdepartmental communications and cooperation throughout our County. By creating a community culture of preparedness and fostering partnerships with local public and private groups and businesses, it is our goal that Daviess County will work as community, with neighbor helping neighbor, when a disaster strikes.

MoDOT Northwest District

Planned Roadwork for Northwest Missouri, Aug. 24-30

St. Joseph, Mo. – The following is a list of general highway maintenance and construction work the Missouri Department of Transportation has planned in the Northwest Missouri region for the week of Aug. 24-30.

There may be moving operations, such as mowing, brush cutting and litter removal, throughout the region in addition to the work mentioned below. Inclement weather may cause schedule changes in some of the planned work. Check the MoDOT Traveler Information Map at http://traveler.modot.org, or download the app for updated information.

MoDOT asks drivers to work with us by buckling up, putting your phone down, slowing down and moving over in work zones.

Daviess County

Route C – Resurfacing project through Aug. 28. The roadway may be CLOSED or narrowed to one lane with flaggers. (Contractor: Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc.)

Route A – Pothole patching from Route Z to Route P, Aug. 24-26.

August 25, 2026 from MoDOT Northwest District

OPEN NOW: Interstate 35 in Clinton County
Interstate 35 from Shoal Creek to Route 116, and Route 69 in Clinton County

ST. JOSEPH, Mo.–Michels Road & Stone, contracted by the Missouri Department of Transportation, reopened the southbound lanes of Interstate 35 between Route 116 (Exit 40) at Lathrop and Shoal Creek near the intersection of S. Route 69 (Exit 48) near Cameron yesterday, Monday, Aug. 24.

Crews have completed paving the southbound lanes. The northbound lanes are restricted to the driving lane (right lane) while crews remove crossovers and traffic control. The southbound passing lane is restricted to the driving lane (right lane) so crews can also remove crossovers.

Traffic Impacts: The northbound lanes will be narrowed to one lane, and the southbound lanes will be narrowed to one lane near the crossovers. A 12-foot width restriction will be in place.
The rehabilitation of the northbound lanes was completed in 2025 along with the widening and rehabilitation of U.S. Route 69.

All work on this project is scheduled to be completed by September 2026.

All work is weather-permitting, and schedules are subject to change.

Daviess County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) will have their quarterly meeting at 12:00pm Noon on Wednesday, August 19th, 2026, at the Subway (2nd Floor) located at 107 N. Main Street, Gallatin, Missouri 64640.

Lunch will NOT be provided by the LEPC.

Wednesday July 1st 2026. Daviess County commissioner and emergency management are out around the county along with State Emergency Management and FEMA. Do not be surprised if you see people out taking measurements along the roadways.
