Great night at the Sumner County Jail for the 21st class of the Homeward Bound Program. Participants were allowed to eat with their families before the graduation ceremonies. Children were reunited with parents for a while and even a daughter of one of the graduates brought tears to my eyes when she asked those to not deal in drugs or do anything bad so they would not be in jail and would be able to spend time with their children and families. This program never seizes to amaze me even after 10 years. Many thanks to all of the volunteers for providing their time to teach the classes of the 16 week program.

All enjoyed fellowship with family and friends at the Homeward Bound Fall Class of 2015 Graduation ceremony held in November 2015.

Chaplain Grant Carey, opened the evening with Danny Spano welcoming all who were present.

Van Banks opened with prayer leading up to the special guest speaker and former Homeward Bound graduate, Justin Nissen delivering a powerful message and testimony on how the program changed his life and how he currently volunteers to help others in the program today.

Diplomas were presented to each participant by Chaplain Carey, Sonya Troutt, and Sheriff Roy “Sonny” Weatherford.

Closing Remarks were made by Sonya Troutt, Jail Administrator followed by a closing prayer from W***y duBois.

These Homeward Bound participants completed a sixteen week intensive study to better prepare themselves for their release. They were to be congratulated for their hard work and perseverance. The Homeward Bound program can truly make a difference in each of these participants lives in the future.

There were special thanks offered to all Homeward Bound volunteers who have given of their time and resources to impact the Homeward Bound participants and the community.
