It is an absolute honor for our agency to congratulate the South Lafourche Track & Field team on making history this past Saturday by bringing home the first-ever 4A State Championship Title!

These student-athletes have dedicated countless hours to becoming the very best, and our members understand the value of hard work and training — even if our goals may be different. Being able to celebrate their accomplishments was the perfect way to start our week.

We also want to recognize the athletes who may not have qualified for State but played an important role in pushing their teammates to be their very best throughout the season.

Congratulations to each and every athlete, their parents, coaches, the SLHS Administration, and everyone else who helped make history for our community. Your hard work, dedication, and pride have made the South Lafourche community proud!

We'd also like to thank LPSO Deputy Eno Allemand for helping us set this up.

**Lafourche Parish Fire District 3 Achieves Class 4 Rating**

Lafourche Parish Fire District 3 (LPFD3) is proud to announce an improved rating from the Property Insurance Association of Louisiana (PIAL), advancing from a Class 5 to a Class 4 rating. This achievement follows a comprehensive audit conducted by PIAL on December 9, 2025, which evaluated the district’s fire operations, water systems, and 911 communications systems.

For more than 30 years, LPFD3 has consistently maintained a Class 5 rating, making this advancement a significant milestone for both the department and the community we serve. The improved classification may result in reduced fire insurance premiums for property owners within the district.

This new rating reflects LPFD3’s ongoing commitment to excellence in fire protection services, efficient operations, and strong community engagement. The improvement is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and professionalism of our firefighters, dispatchers, mechanic/maintenance division, and support personnel, who continuously strive to protect our residents and their property.

The PIAL evaluation process is a comprehensive review that includes:

Emergency response capabilities
Personnel and staffing levels
Training programs
Equipment and apparatus
Water system infrastructure, including hydrants, water mains, and pumping capacity
Communications systems, including both LPFD3’s Communications Center and Lafourche Parish 911

This achievement is the result of strategic improvements implemented prior to the audit, further strengthening the district’s overall capabilities.

LPFD3’s dedicated members—both Career, Volunteer, and Board of Commissioners—remain committed to maintaining and improving upon this Class 4 rating. Through continued training, investment, and service, we aim to ensure that insurance providers and residents alike recognize the strength, reliability, and professionalism of fire protection services within our district.
