Bossard Library's Civil War Book Club title for November 2026, In the Hurricane's Eye: The Genius of George Washington and the Victory of Yorktown by Nathaniel Philbrick is now available to be checked out from the Library.

Join the fun! Bossard Trivia Night on Tuesday, September 1 at 6:00 PM.

Participants can play individually, be matched up with others to create a team, or bring a team of family and friends. The maximum number of participants for each team is 10 people.

This will be a multi-round competition with questions ranging from easy to challenging. Teams will submit answers on paper so no one will have to stand up in front of everyone, push a buzzer, or feel self-conscious.

The winning individual or team will receive a nominal prize(s) and, most importantly, will own the bragging rights to Bossard Trivia Night for the month.

This event is open to those ages 13+.

Light refreshments will be served.

Traveler's Guide to Ancient Ohio: featuring the Hopewell Ceremonial Earthworks.

Join us on Sunday, September 13 at 2:00 PM as we welcome author John Hancock, who will recount the 30-year story of how the Traveler's Guide to Ancient Ohio came about—the vision for a curated, regional approach to Ohio’s brilliant American Indian earthworks—and describe how this book showcases southern Ohio’s rich & surprising layers of cultural heritage for both armchair & on-site travelers.

This compact, richly illustrated, in-depth travel guide takes visitors to the many Indigenous earthwork wonders of southern Ohio, including the brilliant landscape monuments recently added to the UNESCO World Heritage list.

Both the Traveler's Guide to Ancient Ohio ($25) & Hopewell Ceremonial Earthworks ($35) will be available for purchase. Cash or Venmo only.

John E. Hancock taught architecture, design, & history at the University of Cincinnati for 40 years. He has produced many multimedia exhibits & publications on Ohio’s earthworks. Most recently, John served as the principal author & photographer for the successful Hopewell Ceremonial Earthworks UNESCO World Heritage nomination (2023), in collaboration with the Ohio History Connection & National Park Service. He has now re-edited & expanded that work for release from Smithsonian Books.

Are you interested in starting your own podcast but just don't know where to start. Well, look no further!

Join Kaiti Dovyak on Saturday, September 5, 2026 at 10:00 AM for a Podcasting 101 presentation where you will learn the basic steps for starting your very own podcast!

Kaiti is the host of local podcast, "Muggle with a Mic", featuring one of her favorite things, movies and television.

During her presentation, Kaiti will start from a podcaster's first steps (like picking an name, what equipment you will need, etc.) all the way to uploading your first episode. She will also be available for any questions you may have about her experience as a local podcaster.

This presentation is perfect for the beginning podcaster, which was exactly how Kaiti started! So, strap on those headphones, plug in your mic, make your way down to Bossard Memorial Library and learn all about starting your first podcast!

Come join us at Color Me Happy on Saturday, August 29 at 10:00 AM.

Each attendee will receive 3 coloring sheets of the Library's choosing which they may color at the session or take home and color. No substitutions or extra copies will be available.

Attendees are welcome to bring their own pencils, pens, and coloring sheets if they so desire.

Patrons not attending Color Me Happy! will be able to stop in at the Library and pick up a packet of 3 coloring sheets each month to take home and color.

This event is for those ages 18+

Light refreshments will be served.

Visit the Library from 10:00 AM -- 4:00 PM on Saturday, August 29 for our Game Day Saturday.

Bring your favorite tabletop, RPG, board, or card game (or two) from home or choose a game from our collection.

All ages and playing skills are welcome.

Stay all day or just come in for a few hours.

Try out new games or revisit old favorites.

Light refreshments will be provided.

The Library's new StoryWalk title is now on display at the French Art Colony.

Our title for August/September is Don't Eat Bees (Life Lessons from Chip the Dog) written by Dev Petty and illustrated by Mike Boldt.

"Chip claims he is a very smart dog and knows important dog things. He is ready to share this "wisdom" with all the other dogs out there."

"His most important advice is on what to eat and what not to eat. Do eat homework, Grandpa's teeth, and the Thanksgiving turkey; Don't eat bees. Is Chip speaking from experience?"

"Read the book to find out!"

StoryWalk is a way for children and adults to enjoy both the great outdoors and great children's books. Follow the pages of the story as you walk from frame to frame along the path. StoryWalk promotes literacy, physical activity, and parent/caregiver involvement.
